Senior HR Generalist
POSITION SUMMARY
We are looking for a Senior HR Generalist to join our People Operations team in Mexico City as both a hands-on contributor and a thought partner. You will help build and maintain the policies, SOPs, and programs that keep our global People team running well. You will also step back regularly to ask how our workflows could be improved and bring recommendations to do so. You bring a systems thinking mindset. You see how people, processes, vendors, and tools connect, and you are equally comfortable completing a tactical task and redesigning the process behind it. You have broad experience across HR and People Operations, and you use AI as a natural part of how you work and help others do the same. You will also provide program support for people initiatives such as new platform rollouts and performance cycle coordination. A smaller share of your time will go to hands-on People Operations support, such as Workday updates, onboarding, and offboarding, in partnership with our managed benefits services provider, People Partners, and the People Operations team. The mix will shift as our systems, vendors, and priorities change, so we are looking for someone who is energized by that flexibility. This is a hybrid role based in our Mexico City office, with 2 days on-site per week.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Thought Partnership and Systems Thinking
Act as a thought partner to People Operations leadership on how our workflows, systems, and vendor partnerships should work as we scale, bringing recommendations and not only observations
Map end-to-end processes (for example, benefits, leave, onboarding, offboarding, and the help desk), identify handoffs, failure points, and manual steps, and design and implement improvements, using automation and AI where they make the work faster or more reliable
Use patterns from requests, cases, and audit findings to spot trends, prioritize improvements, and make the case for change
Help define how work is divided between the internal team, our managed services provider, and People Partners, and document who does what so requests land in the right place
Evaluate new tools, vendors, and automation opportunities across People Operations, and help decide where AI or process change will have the most impact
HR Policy, Compliance, and SOPs
Draft, maintain, and interpret HR policies and guidelines in partnership with our People Partners, and keep them consistent across locations as our global footprint grows
Build and maintain SOPs, wikis, and knowledge base content, structured so processes can be repeated and handed off and so AI-assisted self-service can answer employee questions accurately
Support HR compliance, including reporting and filings, audit and regulatory inquiries, and keep documentation audit-ready
Monitor changes in employment laws and regulations across our locations, and work with Legal and People Partners to update policies and processes
Review recurring People Operations processes for compliance gaps, such as leave, I-9 and E-Verify, and recordkeeping, and recommend controls and fixes
Program and Project Support
Provide project management support for new People systems and platform rollouts, including requirements gathering, vendor coordination, testing and quality checks, system integration, launch communications, and post-launch support
Coordinate People programs such as the performance and promotion cycles, including timelines, templates, manager communications, calibration logistics, and tracking
Partner with People Partners, Legal, Finance, and IT on change management, launch communications, and manager and employee enablement for new programs and policies
Maintain project trackers and build recurring People reporting (for example, workforce, leave, and compliance reports), share insights with stakeholders, and raise risks and dependencies early
People Operations Support
Process and validate onboarding, offboarding, and employee data changes in Workday, including manual steps when integrations fail, and flag root causes so they can be fixed at the source
Triage People Help Desk and ad hoc requests in partnership with the People Ops team, resolve what you can, route the rest to the right owner, and use knowledge base content and AI-assisted tools to answer common questions faster and more consistently
Support day-to-day benefits, leave, and absence questions in partnership with our managed benefits services provider and People Operations team, and serve as a knowledgeable resource for employee questions on a global scale
Partnership and Flexibility
Partner with People Partners so that tactical work is handled efficiently and does not fall to them, freeing their time for business partnering
Flex across priorities as needs change and provide coverage for teammates when they are out
Support and guide less experienced teammates through work reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing, including sharing reusable prompts and workflows, reviewing AI-generated output critically, and being transparent about where AI was used
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
5+ years of experience across a broad range of HR and People Operations work (for example, HR generalist, HR operations, benefits and leave, HRIS, onboarding, and programs), ideally in a fast-growing, global, or technology company
A systems thinking approach: you can map a process, find the root cause of a recurring problem, and redesign the workflow, and you can move comfortably between tactical execution and strategic thinking
Working knowledge of an HRIS (Workday preferred), including reporting and troubleshooting data and integration issues
In-depth knowledge of HR policy, employment laws, and compliance requirements, with global experience a plus
Experience writing, maintaining, and improving SOPs, policies, and knowledge base content
Experience managing HR programs and projects end to end with minimal guidance, including requirements, stakeholder alignment, and change management
Strong reporting and data skills, including building recurring reports and audit-ready records
Practical AI fluency: you use AI tools as part of your everyday work, have built or adapted repeatable prompts or workflows, and check outputs before relying on them
Clear written and spoken communication in English (Spanish is a plus), with the ability to share recommendations with leaders and build trust with employees, managers, vendors, and external partners
Strong attention to detail and follow-through, and sound judgment when handling confidential information
Self-starter who can prioritize competing requests, work through ambiguity, and ask for help at the right time
Ability to work from our Mexico City office at least two days per week
Occasional travel to California for in-person team events
Nice to Have:
Experience working with managed benefits services providers or a PEO
Working knowledge of global benefits and leave administration, including carriers, brokers, enrollments, and census files
Experience building automations or agents with AI tools
Experience building dashboards or working with SQL
