About the Role

We're seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join our remotely distributed AI full stack team, someone who builds with quality and care, and grows their impact across our ecosystem. You'll contribute meaningfully to the reliability, performance, and maintainability of our critical financial infrastructure, directly shaping how our customers and taskers experience money.

Our AI & Innovation team is a new incubator for AI projects at Taskrabbit, focused on opportunities that improve the client experience, like how clients discover, describe, and book the help they need. The team's model favors throughput: quickly scoping, building, and proving out ideas. Once a project shows validated, high-impact results, it's handed off to the team best positioned to own it long-term. As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll dive deep into our systems, delivering new features while advocating for engineering rigor and operational excellence. You'll work both independently and collaboratively, tackling complex challenges and leaving a lasting impact on our codebase and processes.

Solver: Translate ambiguous, high-stakes business goals into clear technical strategies, designs, and experiments.

Multiplier: Serve as a Javascript subject-matter expert, champion high-quality testing and AI practices,  mentor engineers, and produce durable technical documentation.

Champion AI-Driven Development: Lead the adoption of Spec-Driven Development (SDD) leveraging advanced AI tools, ensuring engineers consistently turn well-defined specs into robust, scalable Node.js implementations and comprehensive test suites.

Spec-Driven Development (SDD): Champion SDD practices using AI tooling, ensuring the consistent translation of precise specs into resilient Node.js implementations and thorough test suites.

Extensive professional experience with Node.js and microservice architecture; familiarity with Ruby on Rails is a plus.

Strong SQL and data modeling for experience (Postgres, Snowflake).

Hands-on experience with async/event-driven systems (Kafka) and microservice architecture.

Proven track record designing and owning observability/alerting for critical systems.

Mastery in building, debugging, and scaling distributed systems.

Excellent communication, ability to influence without authority, and a strong ownership mentality for systems handling money and trust.

Bonus Points

Experience with Spec Driven Development.

Hands-on AI tools experience.

Experience with rebuilding legacy software systems.

Familiarity with microservice and event-driven architectures at scale.
