About the Role

CharterUP is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and operate the data systems that power analytics, decision-making, and AI across our two-sided transportation marketplace. You'll own scalable data pipelines and models that transform data across quoting, booking, trips, operators, customers, and payments into trusted, accessible data products. You'll be CharterUP's data engineering SME, setting the architecture, quality standards, and engineering practices for data across the company. Near term that includes leading our migration from Redshift to Snowflake; longer term it means building the platform that carries analytics and AI/ML as we grow. Working closely with engineering, product, analytics, and business teams, you'll shape how CharterUP builds, operates, and uses trusted data at scale.

Own data architecture and modeling for key business domains, integrating transactional, application, and third-party data into trusted, reusable sources of truth

Ensure data quality, lineage, reliability, and performance through automated testing, observability, and clear SLAs for production pipelines and datasets

Evolve the data platform as CharterUP scales, warehouse, infrastructure, transformation frameworks, and development workflows, leveraging AI-assisted engineering and automation where appropriate

What You’ll Bring

5+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or a similar role designing and operating production data systems

Strong proficiency in SQL and Python, with hands-on experience building scalable ETL/ELT pipelines, data models, and transformations using dbt or similar frameworks

Experience owning data solutions end to end, including architecture, modeling, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and documentation

Hands-on experience with dimensional modeling, data quality, lineage, and orchestration using Airflow, Prefect or similar, and depth in a modern cloud data warehouse such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Databricks; experience leading a platform migration is a plus
