Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer
The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly experienced Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, and evolve the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) infrastructure that powers our cloud-native SaaS platform.
This is a deeply technical, hands-on engineering role requiring strong production experience with Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Kubernetes infrastructure, Terraform, and cloud networking, preferably on GCP.
You will be responsible for the foundational infrastructure that supports our engineering organization, including Kubernetes clusters, GCP networking, infrastructure automation, identity and access management, and shared infrastructure services.
We are looking for engineers who have directly designed, built, operated, and troubleshot complex Kubernetes environments running on cloud providers—not simply deployed applications into existing clusters.
What You'll Do
Design, build, operate, and maintain production infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including GKE, VPC networking, load balancers, Cloud DNS, IAM, and related cloud services.
Own the architecture and lifecycle of Kubernetes clusters, including provisioning, upgrades, node pool management, autoscaling, networking, capacity planning, and operational troubleshooting.
Develop and maintain Terraform modules, infrastructure-as-code frameworks, and automated provisioning workflows that enable consistent, reliable infrastructure management.
Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues across Kubernetes, Linux, networking, DNS, cloud services, and distributed systems.
Design and maintain GCP networking infrastructure, including VPCs, subnetworks, firewall rules, routing, NAT, load balancing, and connectivity between services and environments.
Build and improve infrastructure observability using Prometheus, logging systems, metrics, alerting, and related monitoring tools.
Implement and maintain infrastructure security controls, including IAM policies, service accounts, secrets management, and least-privilege access patterns.
Drive infrastructure reliability, scalability, performance, and cost optimization across our GCP environment.
Plan and execute major infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and architectural improvements while minimizing production risk.
Partner with Platform Engineering, SRE, and Security teams to establish scalable infrastructure patterns and clear technical ownership.
Participate in technical design reviews, architecture discussions, and mentorship of other engineers.
Required Qualifications
Cloud Native Infrastructure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP) preferred
3+ years of hands-on production experience, including designing, provisioning, operating, and troubleshooting cloud infrastructure.
Deep practical knowledge of GCP networking, including VPCs, subnets, firewall rules, routing, Cloud NAT, Cloud DNS, and Cloud Load Balancing.
Experience managing GCP projects, IAM policies, service accounts, and infrastructure security configurations.
Demonstrated experience debugging production infrastructure problems involving multiple GCP services.
Kubernetes / GKE
3+ years of hands-on experience operating production Kubernetes clusters, preferably Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
Direct experience provisioning, administering, upgrading, and troubleshooting Kubernetes clusters.
Strong understanding of Kubernetes architecture and internals, including the control plane, worker nodes, scheduling, networking, services, ingress, storage, and resource management.
Experience managing node pools, autoscaling, resource requests and limits, cluster capacity, and Kubernetes version upgrades.
Ability to troubleshoot complex Kubernetes infrastructure issues involving networking, DNS, node health, scheduling, resource pressure, and cluster-level failures.
Experience using tools such as kubectl, Helm, and Kubernetes monitoring and diagnostic utilities.
Experience limited to deploying containerized applications into Kubernetes does not satisfy this requirement.
Infrastructure as Code and Automation
3+ years of professional experience using Terraform to provision and manage production cloud infrastructure.
Experience developing reusable Terraform modules, managing remote state, and implementing safe infrastructure change processes.
Strong scripting and automation skills using Python, Go, Bash, or similar languages.
Experience with Git-based infrastructure management workflows, code reviews, and automated validation.
Systems and Networking
Strong Linux systems administration and troubleshooting skills.
Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, TLS, routing, firewalls, and load balancing.
Ability to diagnose difficult infrastructure problems using logs, metrics, traces, packet-level analysis, and systematic debugging techniques.
Experience designing secure, resilient, and scalable production infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications
8+ years of professional engineering experience
Extensive experience operating GKE clusters in large-scale, multi-cluster, or multi-region production environments.
Experience with GKE networking, Workload Identity, Gateway API, Ingress controllers, and cluster autoscaling technologies.
Experience designing multi-project GCP architectures with centralized networking, IAM governance, and infrastructure guardrails.
Experience operating Prometheus, Grafana, and centralized logging infrastructure.
Experience with Kubernetes infrastructure security, including RBAC, network policies, workload identity, and secrets management.
Experience performing major Kubernetes or GCP infrastructure migrations with minimal production disruption.
Experience with infrastructure cost optimization, capacity modeling, and cloud resource efficiency.
Experience supporting highly available SaaS platforms or distributed systems operating at significant production scale.
Mentors senior engineers and drives improvements in engineering practices, reliability, maintainability, and infrastructure scalability.
What Success Looks Like
Our GCP infrastructure is secure, scalable, reliable, and cost-efficient.
Kubernetes clusters are well-managed, observable, consistently maintained, and upgraded with minimal production disruption.
Infrastructure provisioning is automated, repeatable, and maintainable through Terraform.
Complex infrastructure incidents are diagnosed quickly, with sustainable improvements that prevent recurrence.
Engineering teams can depend on stable, well-designed cloud infrastructure foundations.
Infrastructure architecture and operational practices continuously improve as the company scales.
Why Join Us?
You'll have the opportunity to work on challenging infrastructure problems at the foundation of a cloud-native SaaS platform. You'll help shape our GCP and Kubernetes architecture, drive meaningful technical improvements, and work with experienced engineers across Infrastructure, Platform, SRE, and Security.
This is an opportunity for engineers who enjoy solving difficult infrastructure problems, take pride in technical excellence, and want direct ownership of the cloud environment that powers a modern production platform.
