Senior Buyer

Position Summary

Reporting to Metrea’s Procurement Manager, this role will primarily execute and manage end-to-end procurement activities across the UK and EU operations. This role balances day-to-day tactical purchasing with proactive commercial delivery, ensuring continuity of supply, strict cost control, and rigorous supplier contract compliance across borders. This role requires the ability to operate effectively in a multicultural, multilingual supplier environment with experience sourcing across multiple European markets.

What You'll Do

Procurement Execution

Execute end-to-end tactical purchasing activities, converting business requisitions into robust purchase orders (POs) and contracts, ensuring timely delivery and product quality

Resolve issues as they occur and mitigate Aircraft on Ground (AOG) root causes

Supplier Coordination

Manage day-to-day operational issues with UK and EU suppliers, acting as the primary escalation point for delivery or quality defects

Support commercial negotiations on mid-tier contracts, focusing on price, service levels, and payment terms (optimizing working capital)

Monitor and report on supplier KPIs, contract compliance, and savings KPIs

Cost & Process Control

Maintain procurement data accuracy

Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities

Stakeholder Support

Work closely with internal stakeholders to support business requirements to ensure demand requirements are met

Parter with Logistics to verify the origin of goods to claim tariff-free movement

Compliance

Ensure compliance with internal policies and UK/EU regulatory frameworks including GDPR, Modern Slavery Act, and relevant procurement legislation

Drive ESG and sustainability initiatives within the supply base, including carbon reduction and ethical sourcing

What You Bring

Minimum 3-5 years of Procurement experience

Experience in Aerospace / Defence / Aerospace Maintenance environment

Demonstrated effective purchase order management

Demonstrated strong negotiation skills

Ability to operate effectively in a multicultural, multilingual supplier environment

Proficiency in Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., AMOS, D365)

Able to work autonomously as well as work with and influence stakeholders

Strong analytical skills, including the ability to quickly synthesize, distil and draw conclusions on large amounts of disparate data

Proficiency in understanding and utilizing appropriate Incoterms and import/export requirements

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Experience sourcing across multiple European markets with understanding of regional supplier dynamics

CIPS qualified or equivalent procurement certification preferred

Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position with typical working hours of Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
