Senior Business Analyst with MDM & Data Modeling expertise
We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to join a data management project within a leading pharmaceutical company.
The role will focus on Master Data Management (MDM), data modeling, and data governance, acting as a business counterpart to MDM and data platform teams. The Business Analyst will help translate business needs into clear data requirements, models, and processes, while supporting the development of downstream data structures and ontologies.
Responsibilities:
Act as a senior business counterpart for MDM, data platform, and Foundry teams, owning the clarification and translation of business needs into actionable data requirements.
Lead requirements discovery and analysis related to Master Data Management, including master data domains, attributes, relationships, business rules, hierarchies, and ownership.
Work closely with business stakeholders and technical teams to define how master data should be structured, governed, and represented across downstream systems and data platforms.
Support the definition and refinement of conceptual and logical data models, ensuring that business concepts and relationships are accurately represented.
Facilitate discussions between business and technical stakeholders, proactively resolving ambiguities, inconsistencies, and gaps in data requirements.
Contribute to the development and evolution of enterprise ontologies, including the definition of business entities, relationships, terminology, and semantic models.
Support data governance activities, including data definitions, ownership, quality rules, standards, and consistency across systems.
Analyze existing data structures and processes and recommend improvements to support scalable and consistent enterprise data management.
Maintain clear documentation covering business requirements, data definitions, models, business rules, decisions, and dependencies.
Validate proposed data models and delivered solutions with business stakeholders to ensure alignment with business processes and intended use.
Collaborate closely with distributed stakeholders and teams, including colleagues based in the US.
Requirements:
5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Data Business Analyst, or similar role within complex enterprise environments, with significant exposure to data-related initiatives.
Strong practical understanding of Master Data Management principles, including master data domains, golden records, hierarchies, relationships, matching, data ownership, governance, and lifecycle management.
Experience translating complex business concepts into structured data requirements and data models.
Good understanding of data modeling principles, including entities, attributes, relationships, reference data, and conceptual/logical data models.
Experience working closely with MDM, data engineering, data architecture, or enterprise data platform teams.
Ability to operate as an independent and senior business counterpart to technical teams rather than relying on engineering teams to drive requirements definition.
Strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills, with the ability to work with both business and technical stakeholders and challenge assumptions when necessary.
Experience with data governance, data quality, business glossaries, metadata, or data ownership frameworks.
Familiarity with ontology or semantic data modeling concepts is highly desirable.
Experience with Reltio or another MDM platform is a strong advantage, but specific Reltio expertise is not required.
Experience with Palantir Foundry or similar enterprise data platforms is a plus.
Pharmaceutical, healthcare, or life sciences domain experience is highly desirable.
Basic understanding of SQL and data querying concepts is beneficial, but hands-on development or data engineering experience is not required.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of ownership and the ability to independently structure ambiguous business problems.
Ability to work effectively in a distributed international environment.
