Senior Automation Anywhere Developer

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced Senior Automation Anywhere Developer to join our delivery team, working on active enterprise client engagements.

You will design, build, test and deploy enterprise-grade automations using the Automation Anywhere Automation 360 platform. The role has a particular focus on intelligent document processing, AI-augmented automation and the integration of automation solutions with enterprise systems and cloud-based AI services.

Working directly with client stakeholders, business subject-matter experts, architects and delivery teams, you will turn business requirements into secure, resilient and supportable automation solutions.

This is a hands-on development role for someone who is comfortable operating in complex enterprise environments, taking technical ownership and supporting solutions throughout the full delivery lifecycle—from discovery and design through deployment, hypercare and ongoing optimisation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Design, develop, test and deploy bots and automation processes using Automation Anywhere Automation 360, following agreed development standards and best practices.

Build and configure Document Automation learning instances, including document classification, data extraction, validation workflows and human-in-the-loop patterns.

Integrate AI and cloud services, such as Azure OpenAI and Azure AI Document Intelligence, into automation solutions.

Design and implement OCR and intelligent document processing pipelines for structured, semi-structured and unstructured documents.

Develop automations that operate reliably within Citrix, VDI and other controlled or locked-down enterprise environments.

Design robust exception-handling, retry, recovery, logging and escalation patterns.

Integrate Automation Anywhere solutions with enterprise applications through REST APIs, databases, files, queues and user interfaces.

Produce and maintain high-quality solution documentation, including Process Definition Documents, Solution Design Documents, deployment instructions and operational support materials.

Participate in process-discovery and solution-design workshops with client stakeholders and subject-matter experts.

Translate business requirements into technically feasible and supportable automation designs.

Conduct unit testing, peer reviews and defect resolution, and support system integration testing and user acceptance testing.

Support deployments, production releases, hypercare and incident resolution.

Assist with Control Room administration, including bot deployment, scheduling, credential management, access controls and operational monitoring.

Work with architects, infrastructure teams and security stakeholders to ensure solutions meet enterprise security, governance and compliance requirements.

Contribute to reusable components, development standards and continuous improvement across the automation delivery practice.

Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less-experienced developers where required.

Identify opportunities to improve automation performance, reliability, maintainability and business value.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

At least three years of recent, hands-on Automation Anywhere development experience, including substantial experience with Automation 360.

Proven track record of designing, developing and deploying production-grade enterprise automations.

Practical experience with Automation Anywhere Document Automation or comparable intelligent document processing technology, such as IQ Bot, ABBYY or Azure AI Document Intelligence.

Experience creating and configuring document-processing models or learning instances, including extraction, validation and human-in-the-loop workflows.

Experience integrating REST APIs, cloud services and AI capabilities into automation workflows.

A solid understanding of OCR concepts, document quality considerations, confidence thresholds and the practical limitations of automated extraction.

Experience developing automations for Citrix, VDI or other environments where direct application integration may be restricted.

Scripting or software development ability using at least one of the following: Python, JavaScript or VBScript.

Strong knowledge of exception handling, logging, retry mechanisms, recovery processes and production support.

Experience with Control Room deployment, scheduling and operational administration.

Experience producing technical documentation, including PDDs and SDDs.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to work directly with client stakeholders.

Ability to work independently, take ownership of deliverables and operate effectively within a multidisciplinary delivery team.

DESIRABLE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Automation Anywhere professional certification appropriate to your experience level.

Experience with Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Document Intelligence or comparable cloud-based AI and document-processing services.

Experience designing solutions involving generative AI, retrieval-augmented generation or AI agents.

Knowledge of secure prompt design, model governance, data privacy and responsible AI controls.

Experience with SQL, relational databases and enterprise data integration.

Familiarity with source control, branching and release-management practices using tools such as Git and Azure DevOps.

Experience with CI/CD processes for automation development and deployment.

Knowledge of process-assessment or process-mining techniques.

Experience working in regulated or security-conscious sectors.

Familiarity with Agile delivery methods, including backlog refinement, sprint planning and demonstrations.

Experience mentoring developers or providing technical assurance and code-review support.

Knowledge of additional automation platforms or intelligent automation technologies.

You understand that successful automation involves more than building a bot: it requires security, resilience, auditability, supportability and effective user adoption.

You will be equally comfortable developing within Automation 360, troubleshooting production issues and explaining technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders.
