The Senior Art Director, Demand Gen Role at Okta

We are looking for an experienced, performance-minded Senior Art Director, Demand Gen to serve as the visual creative lead for our global demand generation and growth initiatives.

In this role, you will sit at the intersection of brand excellence and high-velocity performance marketing. You will lead visual concepting and end-to-end art direction for integrated campaigns across our core solution pillars, including AI innovations, workforce identity, customer identity, and developer platforms. From strategic brainstorms to scalable design toolkits, you will shape the creative experiences that engage enterprise decision-makers, guide prospects through complex buying journeys, and drive pipeline growth.

This is a senior individual contributor role requiring both conceptual vision and hands-on execution. You will champion design craft while embracing performance analytics, A/B testing, and modular systems to continuously elevate our creative output.

What you’ll be doing at Okta

Lead Campaign Art Direction: Serve as the visual creative lead for integrated, global demand generation campaigns, establishing distinct aesthetic direction, narrative hierarchy, and design standards that elevate the Okta brand across digital channels.

Direct End-to-End Digital Systems: Concept, design, and direct cohesive multi-channel asset suites across the entire conversion funnel, including paid acquisition (social, programmatic, and search display), high-converting landing pages, interactive product tours, gated research reports, and email journeys.

Partner on Growth Strategy: Collaborate closely with Demand Gen leaders, Global Campaign managers, and copywriters to translate campaign briefs, pipeline targets, and technical concepts into compelling visual narratives.

Iterate with Performance Data: Partner with marketing operations and growth marketers to evaluate campaign analytics, engagement heatmaps, and creative A/B testing results, translating quantitative findings into iterative design refinements.

Scale Brand Guidelines in Performance Channels: Extend Okta’s core brand identity into high-conversion environments, ensuring visual consistency, accessibility (WCAG compliance), and responsive web standards without sacrificing design integrity.

Build Reusable Design Toolkits: Develop modular Figma components, campaign templates, and layout systems that empower the team to scale asset production quickly while maintaining exceptional quality.

Foster Creative Collaboration: Partner closely with dedicated copywriters, motion designers, web producers, and external creative agencies from initial brief through final asset handoff.

What you’ll bring to the role

Extensive Experience: 6+ years of art direction or senior visual design experience, with a proven focus on multi-channel digital campaigns, demand generation, or performance creative within B2B SaaS, enterprise tech, or top-tier digital agencies.

A Stellar Digital Portfolio: A comprehensive portfolio showcasing sophisticated typography, visual hierarchy, layout design, and modular creative systems across digital touchpoints (ad packages, conversion web pages, editorial assets, and interactive experiences).

Deep Conversion Design Intuition: Demonstrated expertise in UX/UI best practices, digital visual hierarchy, mobile-first design, and conversion rate optimization (CRO) methodologies.

Mastery of Creative Tooling: Advanced proficiency with Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), paired with modern asset management and workflow tools.

Data-Informed Creative Mindset: Comfort reviewing performance metrics, understanding A/B testing frameworks, and using data to inform creative iteration.

Cross-Functional Communication & Storytelling: Strong verbal and visual presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design rationale and strategic thinking clearly to marketing executives, product teams, and cross-functional partners.

Collaborative Spirit: A proactive, self-starter mentality with experience partnering closely with copywriters and mentoring junior or mid-level designers.

Bonus Points

Direct experience designing for enterprise cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, or developer platforms.

Working knowledge of motion design (After Effects, Lottie) or rich media animation for paid social and digital ad units.

Familiarity with front-end web technologies (HTML, CSS) and web design frameworks.

The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay area is between:

$143,000—$196,000 USD

Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, Illinois, New York and Washington. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, Illinois, New York, and Washington is between:

$128,000—$176,000 USD
