Senior Analytics Engineer, Data Platform
About the Role, Mission or Department Overview
We are looking for analytical talent to turn experience with data and support of world-class journalism into decision-making insights. As part of the Data and Insights Group (DIG) and Data Platforms, you will join a large community of accomplished data professionals who partner with Product, Engineering, and Design teams across the business. You will focus on supporting our enterprise partners and report to our Executive Director, Analytics Engineering.
Responsibilities:
You will independently lead work streams in a high leverage, high visibility role building the next generation of data foundations for our core enterprise reporting datasets that executives depend on daily
You will be our subject matter expert on our subscription data, translating our needs into technical implementations and mentoring teammates on the domain
You will design reusable business logic and data pipelines allowing other analysts and partners to answer questions quickly.
You will develop data models, data contracts, alerting, context, and metrics/semantic layers supporting both traditional and AI-assisted analytical use cases.

Basic Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, product analytics or similar data-intensive roles
Proficiency in SQL, DBT, and data transformation workflows
Proficiency in Python for ETL and analytics use cases
Experience communicating updates and resolutions to customers and other partners; you will work with both business-focused partners and platform-focused engineers
Hands-on familiarity with GCP/BigQuery, Databricks/Spark, AWS, Snowflake, or other cloud data environments
Preferred Qualifications:
1+ years of experience working with billing, subscription, and revenue data for a digital subscription product
1+ years of experience working with terabyte scale user engagement data for attribution
1+ years of experience developing on and contributing to agentic analytics workflows on a data team

Compensation and Benefits For This Role:
In addition to base salary, this role is also eligible for variable pay, such as an annual bonus and restricted stock. The annual base pay range for this role is between:
$124,000—$135,000 USD
