Senior AI Product Builder (Pricing)
Location: Remote-India
Role Description:
As a Senior AI Product Builder, Pricing at ShipBob, you’ll own pricing and billing initiatives across our fulfillment and e-commerce platform — spanning both customer-facing pricing (how merchants are charged: rate cards, subscription and usage-based models) and internal/external partner-facing pricing (how we price with carriers, vendors, and fulfillment partners: cost-plus, wholesale, revenue-share terms). This is not the traditional PM role — you are a builder. You use the AI development toolchain (e.g., Claude Code, Driver.ai) to understand ShipBob's rating and billing data model, generate working pricing/billing logic against the actual repo, and ship to production with minimum engineering rework.
You are accountable for the full loop on your pricing initiatives: AI-augmented discovery, story/spec, prototype, production PR, and outcome tracking (margin, adoption, billing accuracy). You partner directly with Finance, Sales, Legal, Engineering, and Operations on pricing and billing matters. This role reports to the Director, AI Product.
What you'll do:
Proactively own pricing and billing initiatives end-to-end — from AI-augmented discovery through story/spec, prototype, production PR, and outcome measurement — across customer-facing pricing (merchant rate cards, subscription/usage-based models) and partner-facing pricing (carrier costs, vendor agreements, revenue-share terms).
Proactively conduct pricing/billing discovery: use AI tools to synthesize merchant feedback, competitive rate benchmarks, margin data, and billing-error signals into validated problems before scoping solutions.
Demonstrate deep functional and technical fluency in ShipBob's pricing and billing domain — rate cards, quotation logic, invoicing/billing pipelines, carrier and vendor cost structures. Collaborate with Finance, Sales, and merchant-facing teams to demo pricing/billing tools.
Use AI-powered analysis to connect pricing metrics — margin, adoption, win rate, billing accuracy/error rate — to business outcomes. Define success metrics and kill thresholds at spec time, not post-launch.
Maintain a prioritized pricing/billing roadmap ranked by impact × speed. Use AI tools to synthesize competitive pricing intelligence and market trends into roadmap inputs.
Proactively evaluate how a proposed pricing or billing change fits ShipBob's existing rating/billing architecture without engineering translation; understand how quotation, invoicing, and carrier-billing systems interact.
Automation and error reduction: design and build automation for pricing and billing workflows — quote generation, rate lookups, invoice reconciliation — to eliminate manual pricing configuration and reduce billing errors.
Proactively route Tier 1 pricing/billing changes (rate updates, config, copy) to direct PR, and Tier 2+ changes (new pricing models, billing logic, new APIs) through prototype-then-PR. Write story/specs precise enough for AI tools to generate correct billing/quotation logic without follow-up.
Partner directly with Finance, Sales, Legal, Engineering, and Operations on individual pricing and billing matters — rate changes, new pricing models, carrier/vendor terms.
Participate in Track B architecture reviews for pricing/billing initiatives as the product judgment seat.
Additional duties and responsibilities as necessary.
What you'll bring to the table:
5+ years of product management, product engineering, or equivalent experience, with a track record in pricing strategy, monetization, packaging, or billing systems — ideally in e-commerce, fulfillment, logistics, or SaaS.
Working knowledge of pricing strategy across both customer-facing pricing (e.g., subscription, usage-based, tiered plans) and partner-facing pricing (e.g., cost-plus, wholesale, carrier and vendor rate structures).
Technical fluency: can read a rating/billing data model, evaluate an API contract, and identify when AI-generated pricing/billing code deviates from the target architecture.
Track record of shipping working pricing/billing prototypes or production code — not just pricing decks or Figma mocks.
Strong outcome ownership: sets margin, adoption, and billing-accuracy targets at spec time and tracks them after launch.
Strong collaborator: works directly with Finance, Sales, Legal, Engineering, and Operations to align on pricing and billing matters.
Comfortable operating in a fail-fast culture. Being wrong fast is a feature here — staying slow to look right is the failure mode.
Excellent written communication: you write specs, not meeting notes.
Nice to have:
Experience with pricing or rating engines, rate-card tooling, or dynamic/usage-based billing systems.
Working knowledge of pricing analytics techniques (e.g., price elasticity modeling, willingness-to-pay research).
Hands-on experience with the AI development toolchain (e.g., Claude Code, Driver.ai, Cursor, Replit).
Experience with warehouse management systems, order management, carrier integration, or fulfillment operations at scale.
Prior experience partnering with Finance or Revenue teams on pricing governance, margin management, or deal desk processes.
