Sector Operations Leader - Energy Market
Job Description
We’re seeking a Sector Operations Leader to oversee the financial performance and day-to-day operations of our Energy sector. In this role, you’ll build the operational structure needed to support market growth, align teams and resources, and strengthen project delivery, technical excellence, and innovation across the sector. This is a highly collaborative leadership role for someone who brings strong business acumen, understands project-based consulting, and knows how to turn strategy into consistent operational results.
What You’ll Do:
Set financial and operational direction: Develop and execute sector strategies that align with market priorities and firmwide goals.
Lead project delivery: Provide oversight to Senior Team Leaders, Senior Project Managers, Technical Experts, and Digital Solutions leaders responsible for successful delivery across the sector.
Drive financial performance: Monitor sector and team performance, identify opportunities, and help each business unit operate successfully.
Optimize resources and utilization: Coordinate staffing and capacity across business units while maximizing the use of technology and innovation.
Connect teams and leaders: Strengthen communication and coordination within the sector and across the firm to support cohesive decision-making and execution.
Develop high-performing teams: Partner with senior leaders to build efficient project teams, grow staff, and deliver high-quality project outcomes.
Anticipate sector needs: Identify market trends, client needs, and emerging technologies that could affect performance, then translate those insights into action.
Manage risk and compliance: Ensure appropriate oversight of risk management strategies, regulatory requirements, and applicable industry standards.
Represent Olsson externally: Serve as a professional representative of the sector and firm at conferences, industry forums, media interviews, and other events.

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, sciences, construction, planning, landscape architecture, or a related field preferred. An associate degree with equivalent experience will also be considered.
12+ years of experience in the consulting industry, including 5+ years of leadership and management experience.
Strong understanding of project-based consulting, financial performance, profit and loss results, resource planning, and staff utilization.
Proven success attracting, developing, and retaining talented staff while building productive, high performing teams.
Ability to identify trends, plan strategically, influence technical leaders, manage risk, and communicate effectively across teams, markets, and the firm.

The typical annual salary range for this role is as listed below. Compensation may vary based on geographic location, experience, and qualifications. Employees in this role may be eligible for our performance‑based bonus and merit increases.
National Pay Range
$161,000—$349,000 USD
