About the role:
As a Robotics Field Service Technician, you are a hands-on member of Formic’s Fleet Operations team. Working closely with Engineering and senior field staff, you will execute preventive maintenance, carry out directed corrective repairs, and represent Formic directly within customer facilities.
This is a hands-on, safety-focused role in uptime-critical environments. Success requires disciplined execution of established procedures, calm work during production interruptions, and clear documentation. Your work directly supports fleet performance, customer satisfaction, and long-term system reliability.
In this role you will:
Execute scheduled preventive maintenance on robotic manufacturing cells following established checklists and procedures
Perform directed corrective maintenance and repairs as assigned by engineering, dispatch, or senior technicians
Respond to on-site service calls, follow structured troubleshooting steps, and escalate complex or unresolved issues to engineering
Provide hands-on technical support to customer operators and maintenance teams
Log service activity, asset updates, and spare part requirements in CMMS systems
Follow assigned field schedules and coordinate day-to-day logistics with customers and internal stakeholders
Monitor system performance using Formic dashboards and fleet tools, and report anomalies to engineering
Document service work and follow-up actions with clarity and precision
Flag recurring issues or failure patterns to engineering for further investigation
Build professional, trusted relationships with plant managers and site personnel
Operate with strict adherence to safety standards, including LOTO and industrial compliance
Support RCA sessions, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives as directed
Continuously build technical skills across robotics, controls, networking, and industrial systems
What makes you a great fit:
2+ years of hands-on field service or maintenance experience supporting robotic or industrial automation systems
Solid troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, PLC, or robotic control systems
Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and pneumatic drawings
Experience using CMMS platforms to track and report maintenance activity
Comfortable with local travel up to 80% and overnight travel up to 50%
Clear written and verbal communicator capable of producing structured service documentation
Demonstrated commitment to safety and disciplined, checklist-driven field execution
Ability to follow detailed work instructions and reliably complete directed tasks with minimal oversight
Bonus points if you have:
Experience working hands-on with 6-axis robot brands such as Fanuc, KUKA, Yaskawa, ABB, or Universal Robots (e.g. maintenance, troubleshooting, basic programming)
Familiarity with palletizing, case packing, pick-and-place, or conveyor systems
Experience in food, beverage, packaging, CPG, or other high-speed manufacturing environments
Prior customer-facing field experience
Spanish language proficiency

Compensation Philosophy

This role is paid hourly with a posted range of $29–$32 per hour. Based on the nature of field service work - which consistently runs approximately 50+ hours per week including travel, site activity, and documentation - total annualized earnings typically range from $71,500 - $91,500, depending on experience, hourly rate, and actual hours worked. Overtime is paid in accordance with applicable federal and state law for all hours worked over 40 in a workweek.
