Position Overview

Axle is seeking a Research Biologist to serve as a senior research scientist in the conduct and leadership of research focused on immunologic lung injury, using advanced molecular techniques — including next-generation sequencing, cell-free DNA and cell-free RNA analysis, and high-density proteomics platforms — to support early diagnosis of lung injury, disease monitoring, and personalized treatment for patients who have or are at risk of serious lung disorders. This role supports detection and analysis of novel molecular markers to help reduce patient morbidity and mortality from immunologic lung disease following human stem cell transplantation. A Master's degree in Biology, Immunology, or a relevant field is required, along with at least five years of relevant scientific experience, the ability to design experiments and analyze results with appropriate statistical analysis, and the ability to write methods and results sections for high-quality scientific publications.

Statement of Work Details

Serve as a Biologist and senior research scientist in the conduct and leadership of research focusing on immunologic lung injury

Use multiple advanced molecular techniques — including next-generation sequencing, cell-free DNA and cell-free RNA analysis, and high-density proteomics platforms — to support early diagnosis of lung injury, disease monitoring, and personalized treatments for patients who have or are at risk of serious lung disorders

Provide detection and analysis of novel molecular markers to support reducing patient morbidity and mortality due to immunologic lung disease following human stem cell transplantation

Identify causative immunologic mechanisms (cells and molecules) in each patient to direct further therapeutic interventions related to autoimmune-associated lung injury after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation

Support the "Early Detection of Infectious and Noninfectious Lung Diseases Following Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplantation" protocol (001742-H) by performing single-cell sequencing and high-density proteomic analysis of blood and lung cells to help define mechanisms of altered lung function and identify patients at high risk of life-threatening lung injury

Support the "Quantitative Autoantibody Levels and Proteomic Endotypes in Myositis-Interstitial Lung Disease" study (B2B Award 1167415) by performing high-density proteomic assays (e.g., proximal extension assay) and quantitative autoantibody assays to characterize proteomic endotypes and identify trends in autoantibody levels and protein signatures in response to immunosuppressive therapy

This role has a market-competitive salary with an anticipated base compensation range listed below. Actual salaries will vary depending on a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and location.

Salary Range

$120,000—$130,000 USD
