Regional Safety Manager, West

Atwell is seeking a Regional Safety Manager to support our growing field operations across the Western United States.

This is a highly field-focused opportunity for a safety professional who enjoys being where the work is happening. You'll provide safety oversight across multiple job sites, build strong relationships with field teams and operational leaders, and help ensure our employees have the tools, training, and support they need to work safely.

This role does not have direct reports. Instead, you'll take ownership of safety across an assigned geographic region, supporting approximately 200 field employees and maintaining a consistent presence across project sites. What You'll Do

Provide safety oversight and support for field employees across an assigned geographic region.

Regularly visit project sites and field crews to maintain a strong, visible safety presence.

Conduct safety audits involving personnel, equipment, job-site conditions, and work practices.

Review safe work plans and help identify and mitigate potential hazards.

Prepare and deliver safety training for employees and subcontractors.

Support compliance with applicable safety standards and regulatory requirements, including OSHA, EPA, DOT-PHMSA, Railroad, MSHA, and other requirements relevant to the work being performed.

Lead and support incident and injury investigations, including follow-up and corrective actions.

Partner with operational leaders and project teams to integrate safety into project planning and field execution.

Complete required field documentation, including Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Safe Work Permits, and related safety documentation.

Promote consistent use of Atwell's safety tools, systems, policies, and processes.

Identify safety trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement and communicate findings to Safety and operational leadership.

Partner with other internal teams, including Fleet and Human Resources, as needed.

Transport safety equipment and supplies and safely navigate active construction and industrial job sites.

What We're Looking For

3–5 years of relevant safety experience, preferably supporting construction, utilities, energy, infrastructure, or other field-based operations.

A bachelor's degree in Safety, Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related discipline is preferred.

Experience supporting safety across multiple active job sites.

Experience with a combination of job-site safety audits, employee training, incident investigations, hazard identification, or field safety programs.

Working knowledge of applicable safety standards and regulatory requirements.

OSHA 30, CHST, or another relevant safety credential is preferred. Candidates without a current professional certification should be willing and able to pursue additional safety credentials as they develop in the role.

Experience within utilities or electric infrastructure, including transmission, distribution, or generation, is highly valued.

Strong communication skills and the ability to build credibility with employees at all levels of an organization.

Ability to work independently while managing priorities across a geographically dispersed region.

Valid driver's license and ability to operate a company vehicle.

Ability to safely navigate active construction and industrial environments, including uneven terrain and varying outdoor conditions.

Willingness and ability to travel up to 90%, including frequent overnight travel.

What to Expect

This is not a traditional office-based safety position. Regional Safety Managers spend the majority of their time in the field, traveling between project sites and working directly with the employees they support. Compensation

The compensation range for this position is $88,200–$113,500 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, education, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related considerations.
