Role Overview
HCP is hiring Applied AI Product Managers, with opportunities ranging from Senior to Principal level. While the responsibilities and focus of these roles are established, we welcome candidates with varying levels of experience and expertise. Final title and leveling are determined through the interview process based on each candidate's skills, experience, and demonstrated impact.
As a Product Manager, Applied AI, you shape how home service professionals (our Pros) use artificial intelligence to get meaningful work done. You own the development of intuitive, reliable AI-powered experiences that simplify complex workflows and help Pros run their businesses more effectively. Your work spans conversational AI, intelligent agents, and the shared capabilities that connect AI to real-world business tasks.
You bring a combination of strong product judgment, technical fluency, and hands-on execution. You are comfortable taking an idea from customer problem to working prototype, shipped product, and measurable business impact. Whether your expertise lies in conversational AI, AI agents, or both, you understand how to translate emerging AI capabilities into practical solutions that deliver value for customers.
As an individual contributor, you collaborate across product domains and partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Design teams to create cohesive AI experiences. You balance reusable capabilities with the unique needs, preferences, and workflows of different businesses while navigating complex product and technical decisions. You operate comfortably between strategic priorities and hands-on problem-solving, with opportunities to influence broader product direction and organizational impact based on your experience and expertise.
Our team is passionate, empathetic, hard working, and above all else focused on improving the lives of our service professionals (our Pros). Their success is our success.
What you do each day:
Define and influence product direction and priorities for applied AI experiences based on Pro workflows, customer research, product insights, emerging AI capabilities, and business goals
Own AI-powered product experiences from discovery and prototyping through launch, measurement, and continuous improvement, ensuring meaningful customer and business outcomes
Design and develop experiences across conversational interfaces, intelligent agents, workflow logic, tools, and integrations, partnering closely with Engineering and Design to bring ideas to life
Create working prototypes and contribute directly to product implementation when appropriate, using hands-on experimentation to validate ideas and accelerate execution
Develop reusable AI capabilities that adapt to different business contexts, preferences, permissions, and workflows while maintaining consistent and intuitive user experiences
Partner with Product Managers and domain teams across HCP to translate domain-specific workflows and agent capabilities into cohesive conversational and AI-powered experiences, establishing alignment and clear ownership across teams
Establish intuitive and trustworthy AI interactions, including context management, appropriate autonomy, user confirmations, transparent actions, human handoffs, and recovery from errors or uncertainty
Collaborate with Engineering and domain teams to establish product requirements and quality standards for AI behavior, evaluations, reliability, latency, cost, and safety while supporting accountability for domain-specific outcomes
Measure product effectiveness through customer adoption, task completion, interaction quality, workflow efficiency, and business impact, using quantitative and qualitative insights to guide improvements
Evaluate emerging AI models, technologies, and product patterns to identify opportunities that improve the Pro experience, while sharing expertise and influencing product practices and decisions across teams
Qualifications:
Experience owning and delivering complex, customer-facing software products from discovery through launch and continuous improvement
Demonstrated experience developing and shipping AI-powered products, including conversational AI, AI agents, workflow automation, or similarly complex AI applications
Hands-on experience developing functional prototypes or translating technical concepts into working product experiences, with the ability to collaborate closely with Engineering on integrations and technical tradeoffs
Understanding of large language models (LLMs), including their capabilities, limitations, behavior design, evaluation methods, and practical applications
Experience developing configurable products or reusable capabilities that support diverse customer needs, business rules, permissions, and workflows
Experience influencing cross-functional product decisions, aligning stakeholders, and translating customer insights and product data into measurable business outcomes
Knowledge of product strategy, agile development methodologies, user experience (UX) best practices, and data-driven product decision-making
Experience leveraging AI tools and automation to improve workflows, execution efficiency, product quality, or team outcomes
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
What will help you succeed:
Strong product judgment with the ability to balance customer needs, technical feasibility, and business impact
A hands-on, experimental approach to problem-solving, with a willingness to prototype, test ideas, and continuously refine solutions
Ability to influence and align cross-functional teams without direct authority, navigating competing priorities and complex organizational dependencies
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear product decisions and priorities
Strong interaction design instincts and a passion for creating intuitive, transparent, and trustworthy AI experiences
Intellectual curiosity and enthusiasm for exploring emerging AI technologies and translating new capabilities into meaningful customer value
