About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Civils - Bridges, you will be a Chartered Engineer with experience of managing medium-size bridges projects, or managing packages on large projects, typically in a discipline lead capacity. The ideal candidate will be capable of managing diverse projects and adapting to various engineering challenges.

You will lead and develop an enthusiastic and committed team of Engineers and Technicians to deliver high-quality output on bridges projects and support in the day-to-day management of the local bridges team. This role requires strong leadership and technical expertise to ensure the successful delivery of projects to cost, schedule, and quality criteria.

Client care and repeat business is crucial to BakerHicks’ success, so you’ll need to be able to develop and nurture relationships with our clients (both internal and external)

Key objectives

Lead teams in a range of bridge engineering activities including assessment, structural analysis, feasibility studies, outline and detailed designs

Preparation of technical reports and deliverables

Tendering and review of contract documents

Multi-disciplinary coordination and collaboration across disciplines on projects

Ensure project teams deliver civil designs to cost, schedule, and quality criteria

Ensure project teams have in place appropriate skills and resources

Ensure compliance with business quality and management systems

Implement change as directed by the Director and Associate Engineer

Mentor, train and develop junior engineers, particularly with reference to ICE training agreements

Skills & Experience

Essential:

Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).

Chartered Civil/ Structural Engineer CEng MICE/ MIStructE

Conversant with current bridges design and assessment codes & standards and assurance processes

Experienced in discharging responsibilities under CDM and health and safety regulations

Comprehensive and current detailed knowledge base of bridge engineering

Specialist knowledge or sector expertise (eg power, highways, rail, defence)

Project management skills related to bridge engineering, and demonstrable track record of successful project delivery and client satisfaction

Experience of significant project delivery within some of the sectors we operate within

Proven ability to work within a fully integrated, multi-discipline design team

Eligibility to pass criteria for security clearance to work on sensitive projects
