Physical Security Design Engineer and Contract Document Specialist
About the Role:
Anthropic's Global Safety, Intelligence, and Security (GSIS) organization is seeking a highly experienced Physical Security Design Engineer and Contract Document Specialist to join the Global Design Engineering Construction (DEC) team. In this role you will author and continuously enhance the contract document basis of design (BOD) and the reusable design templates (drawings, specifications, schedules, and ancillary documents) that drive the consistency and quality of contract documents across Anthropic's global office facility build program. You will serve as the technical authority for access control, intrusion detection, video surveillance, intercommunications, radio, and network systems within the contract document set, working in close partnership with GSIS partners, Real Estate / Workplace, the Network Team, and other cross-functional stakeholders. You will gather lessons from every phase of the project lifecycle, from site/risk assessment through construction, handover, and post-occupancy audits and incident reports, and feed them back into the design documentation, using automations and AI-assisted workflows to accelerate the pace of documentation updates.
Responsibilities:
Develop, maintain, and continuously enhance the contract document basis of design (BOD), initiating BOD content from the site/risk assessment and programming efforts produced at each project kickoff
Author and evolve design templates (drawings, specifications, equipment schedules, riser diagrams, and ancillary documents) for access control, intrusion detection, video surveillance, intercommunications, radio, and network systems, including variations that comply with international / regional standards and codes
Serve as the contract-document subject matter expert: review design consultant deliverables (SD/DD/CD/RIBA stage packages, specifications, equipment schedules) for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with the BOD, and drive coordination across architectural, electrical / fire alarm, network, AV, and Real Estate / Workplace disciplines
Support bid, construction, and operational handover phases through specification clarifications, RFI responses, submittal review, shop-drawing back-checks, and ensuring closeout documentation and as-builts remain consistent with the issued contract documents
Partner with GSIS (Sec Ops, Regional Security Managers, Investigations, Global Security Technology Lead), Real Estate / Workplace, the Network Team, design consultants, and security integrators to capture operational needs, site constraints, and lessons learned from every project phase and translate them into BOD and template revisions
Maintain the GSIS design library (template drawing sets, master specifications, equipment schedules, standard details) under version control, along with change-management, exception, and tracking logs, and provide regular status updates and improvement recommendations to the Physical Security DEC Manager
Implement automations and AI-assisted workflows, BIM add-ins, web-based utilities, and data-processing tools that streamline repetitive design and documentation tasks, and align QA tools and global standards across business units while documenting regional variances
You may be a good fit if you:
Have a minimum of 6+ years of design engineering experience, with demonstrated ownership of contract document development for physical security and/or low-voltage systems
Hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
Have core technical expertise in access control, intrusion detection, video surveillance, intercommunications, radio, and network systems, and can author specifications, drawings, and equipment schedules from scratch
Have a strong understanding of A/E deliverables and phases (SD/DD/CD, RIBA Stages), CSI-format specifications, equipment schedules, and construction administration submittal processes
Have demonstrated the ability to develop and implement internal tools (web applications, BIM add-ins, scripting / automation)
Are a detail-oriented technical author with strong critical thinking skills, comfortable working from incomplete inputs and converging on a defensible documented standard, and self-motivated with a strong bias for action
Have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, and are comfortable in active construction environments and with global travel for site / coordination visits when required
Strong candidates may have:
CDT (Construction Documents Technologist), PSP (Physical Security Professional) or CPP (Certified Protection Professional) certification, or equivalent demonstrated knowledge of construction project delivery
Familiarity with the Revit API, BIM workflows, version control, and modern AI-assisted development tools and practices
Familiarity with Apple OS, Google Suite, Bluebeam, Revit / AutoCAD, Asana, Smartsheet, MS Project, Procore, PlanGrid, and Autodesk Construction Cloud
Deadline to apply: None. Applications will be received on a rolling basis.
