About The Role

This role will influence the design of the next generation of Digit, aimed at meeting customer needs at a commercial scale. The PCB Layout and Interconnect Engineer will help drive the robot design and will develop robust and reliable electronics for this and future robot generations. Collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers is essential to understand product requirements and ensure designs are robust, safe, and production-ready.

About The Work

The PCB Layout and Interconnect Engineer’s responsibilities include:

Executing complex, multi-layer printed circuit board layouts using Altium Designer to create PCB engineering deliverables for release.

Designing system cable assemblies, wire harnesses, and interconnect schematics based on mechanical and electrical constraints.

Estimating duration of work efforts to contribute to project schedules.

Implementing PCB layout solutions and/or harness solutions to improve emissions mitigation, power dissipation, test, manufacturing, and assembly test (DFM/DFA).

Executing PCB layout or harness design and release checklists and presenting your design at cross-functional design reviews.

Collaborating closely with Mechanical Engineering to define board outlines, connector placement, keep-out areas, 3D harness routing through robotic assemblies, etc.

Partnering with PCB fabricators, assembly houses, and cable harness vendors to resolve technical queries and support production.

About You

Candidates should possess the following qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).

5 or more years of PCB layout and cable harness design experience.

Deep experience with Altium Designer (for PCB layout) and 3D ECAD/MCAD integration.

Experience with complex layout constraints including high-speed differential signaling, impedance control, and power electronics.

3D visualization capabilities to imagine and optimize space constrained circuitry and harness routing in challenging mechanical and thermal environments.

Strong understanding of IPC standards for PCB fabrication/assembly and wire harness assembly (IPC-620).

Cable harness design specifically using Altium Harness.

Flex and rigid-flex circuit design.

Component footprint and symbol generation/management in Altium.

Must thrive in a highly dynamic environment with rapidly evolving requirements, tight schedules, and enjoy building collaborative relationships on a daily basis.

Authorization to work in the USA

Bonus Points

Candidates with more of the following will be more highly regarded:

Experience with Altium Multi-board design and system-level connectivity.

Proficiency using Altium CoDesigner for seamless ECAD/MCAD synchronization.

Knowledge of HyperLynx for Signal Integrity (SI) and/or Power Integrity (PI) analysis.

Familiarity with PTC Creo for mechanical integration and clearance checks.

Adjacent engineering disciplines (schematic entry, firmware, mechanical, test).

Project management tools experience (especially using Jira).

Location

This is a fully remote role with the option to work hybrid if a commutable distance from our Salem, OR, Pittsburgh, PA, or Fremont, CA offices. Candidates should anticipate regular travel to Salem, Oregon, or Fremont, California, averaging 1 week per quarter over a year, with bursts of extended stays in Salem or Fremont during critical project phases.

The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to: market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This range may change based on geographical location and may be modified in the future.

Anticipated Salary Range

$137,000—$179,000 USD
