Axle is seeking a Mri Catheterization Technologist to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) supporting the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) located in Bethesda, MD.
The purpose of this position is to support clinicians in obtaining research data for clinical protocols within the DIR, NHLBI, and perform hands-on research activities such as perform interactive real-time scanning to guide MRI catheterization and flow measurements.
Requirements:
-Supports the planning and execution of research experiments in the context of the laboratory's overall research program.
- Strictly adhere to all MR safety standards and protocols related to MR environment
- Perform cardiovascular MRI examinations
- Perform interactive real-time scanning to guide MRI catheterization and flow measurements
- Prepare patients for diagnostic cardiac MRI examinations, and for MRI catheterization examinations
- Perform post-processing of MR images to measure heart function and flow, including manual segmentation of images and data recording and reporting
- Work with staff on the interpretation of experiments performed by research scientists.
- Work closely with physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, anesthetists, technologists, imaging scientists, facilities staff, and veterinary staff 5
- Assist in the performance of investigational X-ray and MRI catheterization procedures on large mammals 3
- Assist in the performance of diagnostic and interventional X-ray catheterization procedures 4
- Work closely with clinicians in obtaining research data for clinical protocols within the DIR, NHLBI.
- Maintain and perform staff training on scientific instrumentation, including HPLCs, microanalytical balances, centrifuges, spectrophotometers, vacuum apparatus and analytical equipment.
- Provide advice and assistance to users in designing experiments, using instrumentation, data acquisition and analysis, and preparing figures for publication. Assists in maintaining adequate space and facilities for ongoing and projected research studies.
- Manage scientific equipment and resources (e.g. reagents, stocks of frozen sells, animal samples) including acquisition, documentation and storage.
- Maintain room cleanliness in accordance with NIH standards 2 Evaluates, analyzes and interprets research data, communicates results and methods in reports, presentations, and manuscripts.
-Provide advisory services and staff support to senior managers on a full range of issues relating to scientific research.
- Perform post-processing and image analysis of CT, X-ray, MRI, and ultrasound acquisitions as needed for laboratory research.
Qualifications
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)
- Basic Life Support Certification
- Must be MR registered or become MR registered within the first year of employment

Salary Range
$120,000—$130,000 USD
