Medical Director
Lead a care team that's rethinking primary care
At Hopscotch Primary Care, we deliver the kind of care we'd want for our own families — high-touch, coordinated, and unhurried. We serve seniors in Western North Carolina with a team-based model built around one goal: the right care, in the right setting, at the right time.
As Medical Director, you'll lead the clinical team at our Spruce Pine clinic, care for your own panel of patients, and set the standard for how the Hopscotch care model comes to life every day. This is a hands-on leadership role: part exceptional physician, part team builder, part culture champion.
What you'll do
Lead your clinical care team — Advanced Practitioners, Medical Assistants, Care Managers, and Community Health Workers — in delivering the Hopscotch care model
Care for your own panel of senior patients in our comprehensive, interdisciplinary model, delivering best-in-class outcomes
Coach your providers on panel management, documentation, and appropriate use of indirect care time — and hold the team accountable to a high standard
Partner with your Care Center Manager to outperform on the metrics that matter: patient experience, STARS/HEDIS, care coordination, utilization, and cost of care
Champion talent, culture, clinical innovation, and compliance across your center, acting as the standard-bearer for the Hopscotch care model
Represent Hopscotch in the community through education, engagement, and events such as health fairs and conferences
Who you are
You must have:
Board certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
3+ years of post-residency experience, including experience managing teams
An active, non-probationary North Carolina medical license (or willingness to obtain) and authorization to work in the US
It's a plus if you have:
Experience with the Medicare population and at-risk / high-acuity panels
Familiarity with value-based or other innovative clinical care models
A track record of using data and insights to drive clinical action
Experience leading, teaching, and developing others, both formally and informally
The way you lead:
High EQ. You build trust quickly with patients, providers, and partners — and you lean into the hard conversations rather than around them.
Steady in ambiguity. You bring structure and a proactive, prioritized approach to a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Humble and accountable. You lead by rolling up your sleeves, hold yourself and your team to a high bar, and set the tone for others to do the same.
