The Mechanical Engineer at iFIT collaborates with Contract Manufacturers (CMs) in Vietnam on New Product Introductions (NPI) and continuous improvement life cycles. This role partners closely with global R&D Engineering Teams in the USA and China to develop new products and mechanical components, and designs, develops, and tests all physical aspects of mechanical components and finished consumer products.

ROLE COMMITMENTS

Engineering Documentation: Submit Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Deviations to meticulously document design changes and improvements.

Project Execution: Deliver assigned product releases on time, within scope, and on budget.

CAD Management: Create, release, and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and complex SolidWorks assemblies.

Cost and Efficiency Optimization: Complete Value Analysis and Value Engineering (VA/VE) projects to optimize product manufacturing costs.

Cross-Functional Communication: Serve as the technical bridge between international R&D teams and local Vietnamese manufacturing partners.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Education and Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.

Minimum 2 years of professional experience using SolidWorks (or similar 3D modeling software), including part modeling, large assembly management, and 2D manufacturing drawing creation.

Proven experience managing complex Bills of Materials (BOM) within PLM platforms such as Arena, Windchill, or Agile.

Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA) principles (e.g., snap-fits, draft angles, part count reduction).

Demonstrated ability to resolve complex mechanical failures using structured root cause analysis processes (e.g., 5 Whys, 8D, Fishbone).

Preferred Qualifications

Experience designing injection-molded plastics, sheet metal, machined steel parts, and die castings.

Competency with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) Simulation in SolidWorks to validate and verify structural design integrity.

Valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle (local travel to CM facilities required).

WORK LOCATION

Based out of the iFIT R&D office in Hanoi, Vietnam, with a hybrid/flexible remote work schedule. Requires regular travel to CM facilities in the greater Hanoi area. Ability to travel throughout Vietnam to out-of-region CMs is required based on project needs.
