ABOUT THE TEAM

The Total Experience group owns the vision and execution of all end-user facing functionality that makes Appian accessible, intuitive, and productivity-driving across web, mobile, portals, and accessibility features. This team directly influences how customers experience enterprise automation, balancing innovation with usability to deliver world-class front-end experiences. You will lead a team of 3-6 experienced product managers, owning product portfolio prioritization, roadmap development, and strategic alignment with Appian's platform evolution.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As enterprises accelerate digital transformation, the user interface has become the competitive differentiator in enterprise software adoption and productivity. This role exists to architect the next generation of Total Experience capabilities that will define how organizations interact with AI-Powered Process Automation at scale. You will shape product strategy during a pivotal growth phase where intuitive design directly impacts customer retention, expansion, and market leadership.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Own the end-to-end product strategy, multi-year roadmap, and annual execution plan for Appian's front-end experiences including mobile applications, UI components, portals, and accessibility features

Lead and develop a team of 3-6 product managers, providing mentorship, career development, and strategic direction while fostering a high-performance culture focused on customer outcomes

Drive cross-functional collaboration with engineering, design, customer success, and go-to-market teams to deliver cohesive product releases that exceed market expectations

Conduct market analysis and competitive intelligence to identify emerging trends in user experience, accessibility standards, and front-end technology that inform strategic product decisions

Partner with executive leadership to align Total Experience priorities with company objectives, articulating trade-offs and securing resources for high-impact initiatives

Execute strategic planning cycles that balance innovation with technical debt, customer requests with platform scalability, and short-term wins with long-term vision

Champion customer-centricity by translating user research, feedback, and usage analytics into actionable product improvements that drive adoption and satisfaction

Establish product success metrics and performance indicators that demonstrate business impact and guide iterative improvement across the Total Experience portfolio

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Human-Computer Interaction, or related technical field

8+ years of product management experience, with at least 2 years leading front-end or user experience focused products in enterprise software

2+ years of direct people management experience leading product managers or cross-functional product teams

Proven track record developing and executing product strategies and roadmaps that delivered measurable business outcomes in complex enterprise environments

Strong stakeholder management skills with experience influencing executive leadership and aligning cross-functional teams toward shared goals

Deep understanding of product lifecycle management from discovery through launch, adoption, and optimization

Experience with business process automation, workflow orchestration, or enterprise application platforms

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Demonstrated expertise in front-end technologies including UI frameworks, mobile apps, progressive web apps, and accessibility standards (WCAG)

Background in design thinking, user research methodologies, and human-centered product development

Experience building products for global enterprises with complex compliance, security, and scalability requirements

Track record managing product portfolios with multiple concurrent initiatives and competing priorities

We value experience with enterprise platforms such as Salesforce or ServiceNow, as these skills translate well into our Enterprise-Grade Orchestration environment.

The base salary range represents a good faith and reasonable estimate of the range at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant work experience, qualifications, internal peer equity, and market and business conditions that exist when extending an offer. A discretionary bonus may be awarded in recognition of individual and company performance.

Base Salary Range

$150,000—$300,000 USD
