Lead Calibration Technician
As the Lead Calibration Technician for Carrigtwohill sites, you will report directly to the Site Lead and take ownership of the calibration schedule for your assigned location. You will be responsible for managing all planned and unplanned calibration activities, ensuring that all IMTE is maintained in a safe, timely, and quality-compliant manner. Your role will also include assigning tasks to the calibration team, ensuring compliance with the CMMS, and supporting cross-training initiatives. Additionally, you will represent the department at Tier 1 and Tier 2 meetings, contributing to site-level communication and performance management
Responsibilities:
Operations & Maintenance Owner
Owner of Calibration Schedule
Responsible for managing and maintaining the site’s calibration schedule to ensure timely and compliant execution of all calibration activities.
Owner of Calibration Metrology Request System (CMRS)
Manage the CMRS system to track, prioritize, and process calibration requests efficiently.
Planned & Unplanned Calibration Activities
Lead and coordinate all planned and reactive calibration tasks for the department, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
Process & Procedure Development
Support the creation, review, and continuous improvement of calibration-related documentation, including Calibration Request Forms (CRFs) and Calibration Discrepancy Forms (CDFs).
Owner of the quarantine list
Manage the quarantine list ensuring it is tracked and controlled.
Calibration Support
Responsible for completing calibrations on site (Gauging & Process Calibrations).
Project Support
Provide support to Site Lead on allocating resources for projects and ensuring they are on track.
Leadership Expectations
Lead by example in safety, compliance, communication, teamwork, and accountability, promoting a professional and proactive culture within the calibration team.
Quality
CMMS Compliance
Ensure all calibration activities are accurately recorded and maintained in the CMMS in line with site standards.
Audit Support
Provide backroom support to the Site Lead during all regulatory audits, ensuring documentation and records are audit-ready and compliant.
KPI Support
Support the Site Lead on ensuring the KPIs are on track.
Governance & Relationship Management
Tier 1 & Tier 2 Relationship Management
Represent the calibration function at Tier 1 and Tier 2 meetings as required, ensuring visibility of team performance, issues, and priorities.
Tier 1 / Tier 2 Escalations
Act as the primary escalation point for calibration-related issues raised during Tier meetings, emails received and requests made, driving timely resolution and follow-up.
Tier 3 Representative
Act as the Tier 3 Representative if Site Lead is not available.
Relationship Management with Equipment Owners
Maintain strong working relationships with onsite equipment owners to coordinate calibration activities and ensure equipment readiness.
Collaboration with Support Function SMEs
Engage with subject matter experts across support functions (e.g., Quality, EHS, Maintenance) to align on compliance, process improvements, and operational support.
Resource Management
Task Management
Assign and oversee daily calibration tasks to ensure timely and compliant execution.
Coaching & Mentoring
Provide guidance and support to calibration team members to foster skill development and performance growth.
Cross-Training Ownership
Lead and coordinate cross-training initiatives to build team flexibility and ensure coverage across key calibration activities.
Support Functions
EWI Programme Owner
Lead and maintain the Equipment Work Instruction (EWI) programme, ensuring documentation is accurate, up to date, and aligned with operational standards.
EHS Compliance
Promote and ensure adherence to site Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies, including alignment with the Life Without (LW) safety culture.
Workflow Analysis & Process Improvement
Drive continuous improvement through workflow analysis, identifying and implementing opportunities to enhance efficiency and reduce risk.
Contributor to CI Process
Actively participate in the site's Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives, supporting cross-functional efforts to optimize performance and compliance.
Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role.

Education / Licenses / Certifications:
A minimum of an NFQ Level 6 qualification or higher in Calibration, Metrology, Instrumentation, Industrial Measurement, Applied Physics, Instrument Engineering, Process Instrumentation, or a closely related technical discipline is required.
Relevant Irish qualifications may include programmes such as BSc in Applied Physics and Instrumentation, BSc in Physics and Instrumentation, or progression from Industrial Measurement & Control / Instrumentation and PLC Systems programmes
