Founded in 2012 as a garage woodworking studio on the North Shore of Long Island, Allied Maker has grown into a design studio with a strong manufacturing backbone.
The Role
Allied Maker is seeking a Junior Interior Designer to support the development of our new headquarters, showrooms, and other interior projects. This position is ideal for an early-career designer who takes genuine pride in producing accurate, organized, and beautifully resolved work. Strong design instincts are important, but precision is essential. We need someone who works cleanly, follows direction carefully, and translates creative concepts into drawings, schedules, specifications, presentations, and project information that are complete and dependable. The right person will be thoughtful, highly organized, receptive to critique, and attentive to the details that allow ambitious design work to be executed successfully.
Responsibilities
Develop plans, elevations, sections, reflected ceiling plans, millwork drawings, and interior details
Translate sketches, markups, and verbal design direction into clear, accurate drawing sets
Revise drawings thoroughly and incorporate all review comments
Verify dimensions, alignments, clearances, materials, and specifications across project documents
Prepare finish schedules, furniture schedules, fixture schedules, specification sheets, and presentation materials
Assist with material, furniture, plumbing, lighting, hardware, and finish research
Request and organize samples, pricing, lead times, and technical information
Maintain orderly drawing files, project folders, sample libraries, and documentation
Coordinate information among the internal design team, vendors, consultants, fabricators, and contractors
Review shop drawings and submittals under the direction of senior team members
Assist with site measurements, field documentation, installations, and project follow-through
Identify missing, conflicting, or incomplete information before it becomes a problem
Support the Design Director in moving projects from concept through execution
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or a related field
Approximately 1 to 3 years of relevant professional experience
Strong AutoCAD skills
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
Experience with SketchUp, Enscape, Revit, or similar visualization software is a plus
Working knowledge of interior construction, materials, furniture, fixtures, and finishes
Ability to read and produce professional drawing sets
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple assignments and maintain accuracy under deadlines
Willingness to work on-site and participate in field visits as required

Salary Range Annually
$75,000—$85,000 USD
