We are seeking a motivated Junior Cybersecurity Data Platform Engineer to support the implementation and administration of the Exiger platform within a federal cybersecurity environment. Working alongside senior engineers and cybersecurity architects, you will assist with onboarding enterprise data sources, configuring integrations, supporting data governance initiatives, and maintaining analytics that enable cyber operations and investigative workflows. This position is ideal for candidates with a strong technical foundation who are looking to grow their expertise in cybersecurity data platforms, cloud technologies, and enterprise data integration.
Remote Opportunity (Candidates must reside within the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area) - This role supports a federal customer in Alexandria, VA.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with configuring, administering, and maintaining the Extiger platform.
Support the onboarding and integration of structured and unstructured enterprise data sources.
Develop and maintain basic data transformation, normalization, and enrichment workflows.
Assist senior engineers with configuring APIs, connectors, and automation supporting data ingestion.
Help maintain metadata, data catalogs, and enterprise data governance documentation.
Support development of dashboards, reports, and visualizations for cybersecurity analysts and mission stakeholders.
Perform system monitoring, troubleshooting, and issue resolution under the guidance of senior engineers.
Assist with Linux system administration, application deployments, and configuration management.
Develop automation scripts using Python, Bash, or PowerShell to improve operational efficiency.
Produce technical documentation, implementation guides, and standard operating procedures.
Participate in testing, validation, and quality assurance activities for new platform capabilities.
Stay current with emerging cybersecurity technologies, AI capabilities, and industry best practices.
Requirements
Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
1–3 years of experience supporting enterprise applications, cybersecurity platforms, or cloud environments.
Basic Linux administration experience (RHEL or similar distributions).
Experience with Python, Bash, PowerShell, or another scripting language.
Familiarity with REST APIs, JSON, and data integration concepts.
Basic understanding of AWS or other cloud platforms.
Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts, including logs, events, identities, assets, and security monitoring.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Ability to learn new technologies quickly and work effectively within an Agile team.
Embraces emerging technologies, including AI tools, to work smarter, solve problems, and drive better business outcomes
Preferred Qualifications
Exposure to Exiger or similar enterprise data analytics platforms.
Experience with Elasticsearch, Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, Databricks, Palantir, or comparable analytics platforms.
Familiarity with data governance, metadata management, or enterprise data catalogs.
Experience with Git, Ansible, CI/CD pipelines, or Infrastructure as Code.
Security+ certification or the ability to obtain within six months of hire.
Experience supporting federal government customers is a plus.
Interest in AI-assisted analytics, cybersecurity investigations, and enterprise data engineering.
