Responsibilities

We are looking for an Intern, Technical Program Manager in the AI Business Unit to join our “Agentic Solutions”  - Packaged Genies and Marketplace team. This is a one-year internship with intent to hire, and a rare opportunity to own a high-visibility project from day one and directly shape how the team defines, plans, and delivers agentic use cases. You won't just be analyzing requirements; you'll uncover patterns in how functional work moves through our system, run the agile cadence that gets it delivered, and turn what you learn into solutions the Technical Owner and Functional Lead will act on.

In this role, you will also be responsible to:

Program Management Responsibilities

You will own the operating rhythm that keeps Packaged Genies' delivery predictable and visible:

Agile Cadence Ownership: Run the day-to-day agile cadence across all workstreams; sprint planning, backlog grooming, standups, and retrospectives — not just observing them, but running them.

Jira Story Preparation: Based on direction from the Technical Owner, decompose requirements into well-structured Jira epics and stories with clear descriptions, acceptance criteria, and dependencies, so the team has sufficient clarity to execute.

Milestone & Deliverable Tracking: Set and track milestones for the requirement-to-delivery pipeline (requirement → breakdown → task → done), flagging slippage early and keeping the Technical Owner informed with concise, accurate status updates.

Stakeholder Alignment: Align stakeholders across workstreams; Product Owner, Technical Lead, Functional Lead, and engineering; on scope, sequencing, and dependencies.

Program Documentation: Document your approach, decisions, and findings in Confluence so the program's knowledge stays accessible and current.

Analytical & Functional Responsibilities

Alongside program management, you will do the structured groundwork that helps leadership make informed delivery and process decisions:

Requirements Gathering: Partner with workstream leads across Packaged Genies to gather functional requirements and turn them into structured, usable specs.

Pattern Analysis: Classify and categorize functional requirements and use cases to surface patterns; recurring integration types, common breakdown gaps, sizing errors and build a process to keep this current.

Delivery Benchmarking: Quantify the trends and benchmarks that answer the delivery questions leadership is asking, for example, where requirements stall, how often "done" gets disputed, and how task sizing holds up in practice.

Root-Cause Analysis: Identify and document the underlying drivers behind unclear requirements or poorly sized tasks, supported by evidence from Jira and requirement-tracking data.

Solution Proposals: Propose solutions, including AI-driven and automation-based approaches that leverage Workato's own agentic platform where appropriate, and define how their success will be measured. This is an analytical input role; final process and prioritization decisions are owned by the Technical Owner and Functional Lead.

Program Health Tracker: Design and build a live tracker that surfaces both functional health (requirement quality, breakdown gaps) and program health (velocity, WIP, confidence flags) — something that keeps generating insight beyond the initial analysis.

Experience with Jira, Confluence, or similar project management tools is a plus.

Basic familiarity with APIs, integrations, or enterprise systems (CRM, HRMS, ITSM) is a plus, enough to engage credibly with engineers on dependencies and scope.

Proactive and comfortable working through ambiguity, with a mindset geared toward continuous improvement.

Strong communicator, able to translate complex findings and functional requirements into clear, actionable specs and program updates.

Thinks analytically and grounds recommendations in evidence rather than assumptions.
