Objective of the Role

As a mid-level SPEI Support Engineer, you are responsible for the reliability and performance of our core payment infrastructure. This is a hybrid role that combines traditional systems administration (RedHat/Windows), JBoss application server management, DevOps practices, and Project Management (PM) functions to track external vendors and ensure seamless real-time SPEI transaction delivery.

Main Responsibilities

SPEI Operations Management: Monitor and provide tier 2/3 support for the payment platform, specifically managing virtual machines (VMs) in RedHat and Windows Server environments.

Application server management: Maintain JBoss Application Servers to ensure the frictionless lifecycle of financial transfers.

Vendor management: Track vendor activities, manage deliverables, and ensure compliance with technical requirements.

DevOps & automation: Collaborate with the DevOps team to automate repetitive tasks and enhance observability tools, utilizing containers and scripting.

Troubleshooting: Identify root causes of failures in communication with Banco de México (Banxico) and connectivity providers.

Technical Liaison: Work closely with Product and Finance teams to implement regulatory changes or service improvements.

On-call Rotation: Participate in availability shifts to ensure the continuity of a 24/7 critical service.

Required Knowledge and Experience

Fintech/Banking Experience: At least 3-4 years of experience working with payment systems, ideally with SPEI protocols and regulations.

Tech Stack:

Solid knowledge of Linux and scripting (Bash, Python, or Go).

Cloud expertise (AWS/Azure) focused on platform services.

Hands-on experience with containers (Docker / Kubernetes).

- Observability: Proficiency with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Datadog, New Relic, Grafana) for transaction tracing.

- Databases: Ability to perform complex SQL queries for auditing and resolving transactional discrepancies.

- Project Management: Ability to track vendor progress, manage project milestones, and ensure technical deliverables are met on time.

- Soft Skills: Ability to communicate effectively and an analytical mindset for solving complex technical problems.
