ROLE OVERVIEW

The Head of Social Impact is a senior leader who will define and drive Harvey’s global social impact and access-to-justice agenda. They will join Harvey’s Responsible Business function, working closely with leaders across product, partnerships, legal, and people to embed impact into how we build and deploy legal AI. This role focuses on ensuring Harvey’s technology contributes meaningfully to access to high‑quality legal help and the health of justice ecosystems. It is a chance to build a modern, outcomes‑driven social impact function in a fast‑moving company that is reshaping legal work, while working autonomously within a small, agile team.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Define and lead Harvey’s global social impact strategy with a specific focus on access to justice, including clear priorities, principles, and multi‑year goals.

- Design, pilot, and scale high‑impact programmes and partnerships with civil society, justice sector organisations, professional bodies, and other relevant institutions.

- Build and manage a portfolio of external relationships (e.g., NGOs, community organisations, bar associations, multilateral bodies) that advance Harvey’s impact objectives and inform our product and policy choices.

- Develop a coherent external narrative for Harvey’s social impact work in partnership with Communications, Marketing, and Leadership.

- Establish practical, outcomes‑oriented approaches to impact measurement and learning, and translate insights into recommendations for product, policy, and go‑to‑market teams.

- Serve as an internal expert on social impact and access to justice, providing guidance, support, and practical frameworks to help product, commercial, and policy teams make decisions that are consistent with Harvey’s impact commitments.

WHAT YOU HAVE

- Significant experience (typically 7+ years) designing and leading social impact, public interest, or community‑focused programmes in complex organisations.

- A track record of building strategic partnerships across different types of organisations (for example: civil society, community‑based organisations, justice sector actors, educational institutions, or advocacy groups) and delivering tangible outcomes together.

- Demonstrated ability to translate high‑level missions (such as access to justice, equity, or inclusion) into clear strategies, programmes, and decision frameworks that non‑specialists can understand and act on.

- Comfort working in ambiguous, fast‑changing environments: you can build from scratch, set direction with incomplete information, and iterate quickly based on feedback and learning.

- Strong communication and stakeholder skills — you can represent an organisation externally with credibility, facilitate alignment among diverse internal and external partners, and handle sensitive or contested topics with nuance.

- An informed interest in the opportunities and risks of AI in society, and a willingness to engage deeply with the implications of deploying legal AI in justice ecosystems.
