What you'll do

Giga is hiring a Head of Digital Operations to lead the technology services used by our global workforce. You will own workforce identity and access, employee devices, company-wide software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications, collaboration tools, business networks at offices and operating sites, employee technology support, vendor management, technology spend, and audit readiness.

This is a hands-on role building the function. You will lead a lean distributed team with one IT role in China and one in India, while continuing to own important work directly. You will establish clear ownership, service standards, and practical controls so employees and engineers can move quickly. Success means reliable employee technology, faster support, stronger backup coverage, and audit-ready evidence.

Your scope is employee technology and business networks. Product software, industrial controls and operational technology (OT), physical security, and department-specific business applications stay with the teams that run them.

In your first 90 days, you will map current services, owners, access, devices, applications, vendors, spend, and material risks. You will set clear service ownership and decision rights, then close the highest-impact reliability and control gaps. During the first year, you will make employee technology more reliable, keep audit evidence ready, build backup ownership for critical services, and create a support model that works across regions.

Where you'll work

This role is ideally based in the Houston area and will work out of our HQ office.

That said, we will make exceptions for truly exceptional talent if you live outside one of our hubs. If you're the right person for this role, we'll have a conversation about what works.

Responsibilities

Own the reliability, security, and employee experience of workforce identity and access, endpoints, common SaaS, collaboration technology, business networks at offices and operating sites, and employee technology support.

Establish a measurable service model with clear ownership, intake, escalation, documentation, closure criteria, and service reporting.

Set practical global technology standards and coordinate execution across Giga’s teams in the United States, China, and India. Make ownership, exceptions, and results clear in writing.

Build reliable onboarding, role-change, and offboarding processes with People, Security, and application owners.

Build and lead Giga’s corporate IT function, clarify roles and decision rights, and reduce key-person dependencies through documentation, automation, and backup coverage.

Manage technology vendors, contracts, renewals, spend, performance, and exit plans.

Own the Digital Operations controls and evidence required for System and Organization Controls 2 (SOC 2) audits while protecting employee and engineering productivity.

Turn recurring support issues into documented fixes, self-service, and automation where that improves speed and control.

Use service demand, risk, cost, and operating data to build a prioritized roadmap, resource plan, vendor strategy, and budget.

Work closely with the teams that own product software, industrial controls and operational technology, Security, People, Finance, and business systems. Keep decisions with the team accountable for the outcome.

Requirements

Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of multiple enterprise technology domains, including identity and access, employee devices, company-wide software applications, employee networks, service operations, vendors, and control evidence.

A track record of building auditable technology controls while preserving employee and engineering productivity.

Working technical depth across single sign-on (SSO), System for Cross-domain Identity Management (SCIM), multifactor authentication (MFA), privileged access, device management, endpoint security, networking, secure access, software lifecycle management, logging, integrations, and recovery.

Experience leading and developing hands-on IT or Digital Operations professionals and managing external vendors or service partners.

Experience leading distributed technology services across countries and time zones, with strong written communication and effective asynchronous coordination.

Evidence-based judgment about when to build, buy, automate, hire, partner, simplify, or stop.

Ability to communicate technical risks, operating choices, costs, and tradeoffs clearly to executives, engineers, and functional leaders.

A record of delivering visible improvements with a focused team through sharp prioritization and targeted changes.

Bonus points

Direct ownership of SOC 2 or a comparable audit and evidence environment.

Experience in a fast-scaling industrial, energy, construction, hardware, infrastructure, or engineering-heavy company.

Experience supporting computer-aided design (CAD), building information modeling (BIM), simulation, or other specialized employee computing requirements.

Experience operating employee technology in both the United States and the Asia-Pacific region, particularly China or India.

Experience transitioning founder-led or key-person-dependent IT into a durable service model.

Experience reconciling fragmented SaaS inventories, ownership, spend, contracts, and renewals.
