The Team:

Upstart’s Auto team is transforming automotive lending by building technology that creates a seamless experience for borrowers, dealers, lending partners, and investors. The team is responsible for enabling scalable loan originations while maintaining operational excellence, compliance, and investor confidence across the lifecycle of every funded loan.

As the Funding Delivery Manager, Auto Loans, you will establish the operational foundation for funding delivery within Upstart's growing auto lending business. You will own the end-to-end funding delivery process, build scalable controls and reporting, and ensure funded loans consistently meet lending partner, investor, and regulatory requirements. Your work will directly improve funding performance while helping prepare the business for long-term growth under Upstart's bank charter.

How you’ll make an impact

Own the end-to-end funding delivery process for Upstart's auto lending products, ensuring funded loans are delivered accurately and on time to lending partners and investors.

Build and scale funding delivery processes, controls, and operational reporting that improve funding success rates, reduce exceptions, and support regulatory readiness as the business grows.

Investigate funding exceptions, delivery failures, and reconciliation issues by conducting root cause analysis and partnering across teams to implement sustainable solutions.

Establish and maintain quality standards for loan files, ensuring documentation and data consistently meet lending partner, investor, and regulatory requirements for saleability and downstream servicing.

Partner closely with Product, Operations, Capital Markets, Servicing, Compliance, Engineering, and external stakeholders to design scalable funding workflows and drive continuous process improvements.

Develop metrics, dashboards, and performance reporting to provide visibility into funding health, identify operational risks, and inform business decisions while leveraging AI-enabled tools responsibly to improve documentation, reporting, and exception analysis.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Operations, Economics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

5+ years of experience in lending operations, loan funding, capital markets operations, or financial services operations.

Experience managing loan funding, delivery, investor reporting, or post-origination operational processes.

Experience using operational metrics and data to investigate process issues and implement improvements.

Experience partnering cross-functionally across capital markets, engineering, servicing, product and compliance teams.

Experience leveraging AI-enabled tools responsibly to accelerate exception analysis, documentation, reporting, and/or operational process improvements while applying appropriate human judgment.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of auto lending products, funding workflows, and loan sale processes.

Experience designing operational controls within a regulated financial institution.

Ability to build scalable operational processes and documentation that support audit and regulatory requirements.

Experience defining success metrics and operational controls for a new or evolving process.

Skills in SQL, Excel, business intelligence tools, or dashboard development.

Experience working with lending partners, investors, custodians, or third-party servicing organizations.

Position location This role is available in the following locations: Remote

Time zone requirements The team operates on the East/West coast time zones.

Travel requirements As a digital first company, the majority of your work can be accomplished remotely. The majority of our employees can live and work anywhere in the U.S but are encouraged to to still spend high quality time in-person collaborating via regular onsites. The in-person sessions’ cadence varies depending on the team and role; most teams meet once or twice per quarter for 2-4 consecutive days at a time.

At Upstart, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package.  The anticipated base salary for this position is expected to be within the below range. Your actual base pay will depend on your geographic location–with our “digital first” philosophy, Upstart uses compensation regions that vary depending on location. Individual pay is also determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

$104,800—$145,000 USD
