Founding CTO (New Healthcare Startup)
About MyPattern
MyPattern is a venture-backed women's health technology company on a mission to help women better understand and navigate their health journeys.
We believe the future of healthcare will be more personalized, more proactive, and more empowering for patients. We're building technology that helps women make sense of complex health information and take action with greater confidence.
Today, MyPattern is live with real users and entering an exciting stage of growth. Our team is driven by a shared belief that technology can play a meaningful role in improving health outcomes and creating a better experience for the people we serve.
The Role
For decades, women have been forced to navigate a fragmented healthcare system. Lab results live in one place. Symptoms in another. Medical records, wearable data, treatments, and provider recommendations rarely connect in a way that helps women truly understand what is happening in their bodies.
MyPattern exists to change that.
We're building an intelligent health platform that brings these disconnected signals together, helping women better understand their health, identify patterns, and make more informed decisions throughout their health journey.
Our beta product is already live and in the hands of real users. We have momentum, a clear vision, and an opportunity to build something genuinely meaningful.
Now we're looking for the technical leader who wants to help take it to the next level.
The Opportunity
This is not a traditional CTO role. We're looking for someone who wants to help build a company, not just lead an engineering function.
As Founding CTO, you will work directly alongside the CEO to shape product strategy, technology direction, and company growth. You will have an outsized voice in determining what we build, how we build it, and where the company goes next.
You will lead a small, highly capable engineering team with a mandate to move quickly, solve meaningful problems, and deliver results. Some days you'll be discussing market opportunities, product vision, customer insights, and company priorities. Other days you'll be deep in the codebase helping the team solve technical challenges and ship critical features.
This role is for someone who loves both strategy and execution. Someone who wants a seat at the table and is still excited to roll up their sleeves and build.
Most importantly, this role offers the opportunity to create technology that will meaningfully improve the lives of women at scale.
What You'll Do
Lead Product and Technology Strategy
Partner closely with the CEO to define product direction, technical priorities, and the long-term evolution of the platform. Translate company objectives into a technology roadmap that balances innovation, scalability, and speed of execution.
Scale the MyPattern Platform
Take ownership of a live product with active users and prepare it for growth. Improve platform reliability, performance, security, and maintainability while accelerating the pace of feature delivery
Build AI-Powered Health Experiences
Lead the development of systems that transform health data into personalized insights and recommendations. Drive the thoughtful application of AI to improve user experience, engagement, and outcomes.
Develop and Expand Data Integrations
Build and expand integrations across lab providers, wearable devices, medical records, and other health data sources. Ensure data quality, reliability, and interoperability across the platform.
Build and Lead a High-Performing Engineering Team
Recruit, mentor, and lead a small team of exceptional engineers. Establish engineering practices, technical standards, and a culture focused on accountability, ownership, and velocity.
Stay Hands-On
Remain actively involved in architecture, code reviews, technical problem solving, and key implementation decisions. This role requires a leader who enjoys building as much as leading.
Ensure Security and Compliance
Establish and maintain security, privacy, and compliance standards appropriate for a healthcare platform, including HIPAA requirements and industry best practices.
Who You Are
We're looking for a builder at heart.
Someone who enjoys creating more than maintaining. Someone who sees ambiguity as an opportunity rather than a problem. Someone who is excited by the idea of helping shape a company during a pivotal stage of growth.
You thrive at the intersection of strategy and execution. You're comfortable discussing market opportunities, product direction, and company priorities one moment, then diving into architecture reviews, technical challenges, or code the next.
You know how to build strong teams, move quickly without sacrificing quality, and balance long-term vision with near-term execution.
Ideal Experience
10+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of building and scaling products.
Strong experience across backend systems, APIs, cloud infrastructure, security, and system architecture.
Experience building AI-enabled products and integrating modern LLM capabilities.
Experience leading engineers, technical teams, or engineering organizations.
Familiarity with healthcare technology, health data, interoperability standards, or regulated environments.
Strong understanding of privacy, security, and compliance best practices.
Startup experience and comfort operating in fast-moving environments.
Experience with Python, TypeScript, and modern cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Experience working with healthcare data, wearable integrations, lab systems, EHRs, or related ecosystems is strongly preferred.
Bonus Points
Previous CTO, founding engineer, or technical co-founder experience.
Experience building consumer health or healthcare technology products.
Experience integrating wearable devices, lab systems, or healthcare data platforms.
Experience building conversational AI experiences.
Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7, FHIR, or LOINC.
Salary Range: $200,000-300,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience, skills, and other factors.
