At Jensen Hughes, we’re looking for a Fire & Life Safety Engineer/Consultant to join our growing Malaysia team. This is an opportunity for a motivated engineer with around 2+ years of experience to take the next step in their career and build their expertise within one of the world’s leading fire and life safety consultancies.
You’ll work alongside experienced engineers and consultants, gaining exposure to Fire & Life Safety Code Consulting, Fire Protection System Design and Review, site inspections, testing and commissioning. You won’t be sitting behind a desk all day either — the role involves regular travel across Southeast Asia, client meetings, project workshops and site-based work.

Jensen Hughes has an opportunity for a Fire & Life Safety Engineer/Consultant with strong analytical and creative thinking skills to manage a hospitality project workload across Southeast Asia and will report to Jensen Hughes Malaysia Hospitality Manager. The successful candidate should enjoy frequent travel and client interaction as part of their work. This is a client facing role and therefore a solid technical understanding along with excellent communication and organizational skills are a must. In this role, you will be initially trained in Code Consulting, and Fire Protection System Design/Review.
Responsibilities
Review hospitality Fire & Life Safety design projects for compliance with international codes and standards as part of a team within a well-structured organisation, progressively taking on the reviews with increased autonomy.
Travel regularly across Southeast Asia but potentially also other regions to conduct and attend site testing, commissioning, and inspections at critical project phases, as well as client meetings and workshops.
Manage hospitality projects and coordinate their technical workload, delivering assigned tasks on schedule.
Attend client project and design meetings managing expectations throughout.
Prepare and present technical reports in line with established company procedures.
Participate in business development at various levels, including client meetings and proposal development.
Requirements and Qualifications
Technical Degree in a relevant Engineering specialty.
Past experience in site inspection, fire code consulting, design of fire suppression & alarm systems, and/or developing performance-based strategies in a project design environment.
Previous experience in the hospitality sector is a plus.
Excellent report writing and interpersonal skills.
Excellent communication skills including speaking and writing in English. Ability to present clear and technically sound fire protection engineering strategies, speak in public, negotiate, explain fire protection concepts, and enforce standards while strengthening relationships, occasionally under pressure.
Should be able to work independently and as part of a team, enjoying professional challenges wanting to be an integral part of the long-term growth of Jensen Hughes.
Chartered Engineer or PE is desirable.
