Finance Operations Transformation Manager
Our mission is to modernize end-to-end Finance and Accounting operations. The primary focus is processes and systems which will enhance financial and operational performance. This role will drive core operating strategy across many teams, with focus on processes, systems and delivering impact internally and to customer experience. The ideal candidate will have strong interest in process design, automation, using AI tools to build and transform workflows and operations. The initial focus is building new capabilities that help drive value realization by monitoring platform usage, working with sales to address overages and drive commercial discussions (overage fees, upsells, right sizing, remediation).
Tasks and responsibilities
Analyze current-state finance processes, operations, workflows and governance.
Develop future-state process designs, business requirements, and project manage the implementation workflow, automation, analytics, and AI solutions.
Lead stakeholders discussions and change management activities.
Be hands-on to set up a manual process, own and operate process as needed, transition to ultimate team after new processes and automation has been implemented (Build > Operate > Transfer)
Build the operating cadence with business during transformation of a process. Initial project is to be the operations lead for resolution of platform overages (waiver fo fees, invoice fees, upsell, remediation of use by customer). This will require understanding of contractual terms, usage data, and assess reason for overage (such as use case limitations or design and implementation issues), cost and margin analysis, and reach commercial resolution.
Partner directly with Sales on overage, maintenance of overviews, and follow up on conversations, provide analysis, guidance, and negotiation support to protect revenue while maintaining customer relationships.
Identify patterns in overage and follow-up triggers to flag upsell or cost-saving opportunities.
Develop policies and framework for decision making. Plan for scaling operations to $500M+.
Spearhead initiatives to identify and implement improvements across finance operations, enhancing efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
Develop and implement company-wide initiatives to identify and realize cost-saving opportunities. Leveraging process improvements, automation, and optimization initiatives to drive efficiency and maximize financial performance.
Assist in initiatives to document our processes and operations by creating process descriptions, guidelines, and procedures.
Work cross-departmental (e.g., with engineering, product, and sales departments) to gather (key) stakeholders' requirements, feedback, and insights. Proactively communicate with strategic decision-makers to drive new improvements.
Prepare Finance operations for upcoming packaging changes, assessing impact on billing and overage logic before go-live.
Work with Product and Engineering to ensure new packaging models are operationally supported by Finance systems and reporting from day one.
Requirements
Minimal 5-year relevant working experience
A can-do mentality. Being able to translate broad objectives into pragmatic actions with clear follow-up and tangible results.
Ability to navigate in an ever-changing environment, being able to build a structure to misaligned processes or data.
Proven experience managing usage-based billing concepts such as overages and maintenance fees, ideally in a SaaS or subscription business.
Strong understanding of contractual terms and the ability to translate usage data into clear waiver or upsell recommendations.
Experience building or scaling operational frameworks and metrics from the ground up.
The ability to navigate and mitigate resistance to change.
Skill in managing and leading change initiatives within the finance function.
Demonstrated commitment to staying informed and driving improvement.
Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and driving improvement within Finance and the broader organization.
Deep understanding of the business model and how packaging, monetization, and usage policies tie into overall business goals.
Familiarity with financial software, ERP systems, and other relevant tools.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess complex financial data, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.
Able to deal with resistance, being persistent, and influence without authority to achieve goals.
