The Field CTO will serve as the executive technology voice, technology champion, and trusted executive advisor for our Enterprise Advisory & Solution Architecture practice. This is a senior, client-facing role where you build peer-level relationships with CIOs, CTOs, CDOs, and transformation leaders, shape market narrative through industry presence and analyst engagement, and translate technology direction into business outcomes that executives can fund and govern.

You operate across multiple strategic accounts, set technology vision that influences how we advise, sell, and deliver, and use your credibility to create demand, expand strategic relationships, unlock and shape large transformation opportunities, and contribute to growth. You work closely with pursuit, delivery, engineering, practice, and partner teams, but your primary lane is advisory, market presence, and offering strategy, not day-to-day deal mechanics.

This is a matrix leadership role. You lead outcomes across pursuit, delivery, and partner teams through influence, executive alignment, and decision ownership, without relying on direct line management authority. You co-own portfolio-level results with practice leadership.

Responsibilities

Executive Advisory and Peer Relationships

Set credible technology vision and multi-year transformation strategy that executives can fund, sequence, and govern.

Frame decisions in business terms by explaining options, tradeoffs, enterprise risk, and expected value.

Champion technical debt elimination and modernization with client technology leaders to unlock value and create demand for transformation.

Connect technology investment to enterprise value by helping executives define measurable outcomes, adoption requirements, operating model implications, and governance needed to realize the expected business benefit.

Market Presence and Thought Leadership

Act as a named external technology voice across client forums, executive briefings, industry conferences, partner events, and analyst sessions.

Publish points of view, briefings, and narratives that establish the practice as a market leader.

Engage with industry analysts, sourcing advisors, consulting firms, and ecosystem partners to shape opportunities and influence market perception.

Build market awareness and excitement around our capabilities in ways that unlock large transformation opportunities, expand the scope of existing opportunities, and create new ones.

Partner Ecosystem Leadership

Cultivate senior relationships with Microsoft field teams, ISVs, platform partners, and the broader technology ecosystem to identify and shape joint opportunities.

Drive partner-influenced pipeline and co-sell success through joint solutioning, executive relationships, and coordinated pursuit execution.

Stay current on partner roadmaps and platform direction and translate that into client options and offering decisions.

Connect 3Cloud and Microsoft capabilities with the broader technology ecosystem, industry expertise, and partner landscape to shape differentiated client solutions and opportunities.

Position Microsoft technologies credibly within heterogeneous enterprise environments, understanding how they integrate and coexist with other cloud, data, AI, SaaS, and enterprise platforms.

Leadership

Set consistent technical direction and quality standards, build capability through coaching and communities of practice, and represent the practice in executive and cross-practice planning.

Model the 3Cloud Way to Lead through personal, organizational, and business leadership, building trust across organizational boundaries, developing people, and operating with a strategic and enterprise mindset.

Serve as a senior technology leadership interface across advisory, pursuit, engineering, and delivery, ensuring executive technology strategy remains grounded in what can be successfully engineered, operated, and scaled.

Solution and Offering Strategy

Shape the portfolio across Applications, Cloud Platforms, and Data & AI so it is technically sound, deliverable at scale, and aligned with market demand.

Sponsor reference architectures, solution playbooks, accelerators, and guardrails that improve win rate and delivery consistency across the firm.

Set technical direction on principled tradeoffs across speed versus quality, custom build versus platform, and innovation versus stability at a portfolio level.

Connect lessons from strategic client engagements, Microsoft, and the broader technology ecosystem back into offering strategy and capability development.

Pursuit Influence and Technical Win

Champion priority pursuits through executive credibility, solution strategy, and competitive positioning grounded in delivery reality.

Engage early on the highest-stakes opportunities to surface outcomes, constraints, and enterprise risks and to shape the opportunity before it is fully formed.

Champion technology choices and tradeoffs with clients as they evaluate recommended solutions and lead solution defense alongside pursuit and delivery teams.

Create executive-level demand and help expand individual technology initiatives into broader transformation opportunities where client outcomes support it.

Step in when stakes are high, decisions are contested, or executive alignment is at risk and restore clarity on the path forward.

Innovation and Horizon Scanning

Track emerging technology and industry shifts through Microsoft, partner roadmaps, and direct ecosystem dialogue, and evaluate them based on enterprise applicability and business value rather than technology novelty alone.

Translate innovation into clear client recommendations, pilot approaches, and phased adoption paths that balance value, risk, and operational readiness.

Maintain executive-level fluency in emerging AI capabilities, including generative AI, agentic systems, AI-enabled engineering, governance, security, and responsible enterprise adoption.

Educate sales, pursuit, and delivery teams on key components, trends, and capabilities so they can recognize and act on opportunities.

Requirements

Proven experience as a Field CTO, Principal CTO, Chief Architect, Distinguished Architect, or equivalent external-facing technology leader for an enterprise modernization, cloud, AI, or technology transformation practice.

Executive-level technology leadership experience advising and/or directly leading complex enterprise technology organizations, including significant C-suite interaction and a track record of building peer-level relationships with CIOs, CTOs, CDOs, and transformation leaders at Fortune 500 or comparable enterprises.

Demonstrated industry voice through keynotes, published points of view, briefings, podcasts, analyst engagement, or other recognized external forums.

Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure architecture, including enterprise-scale adoption, governance, security, integration, and modernization.

Experience setting technology direction across Applications, Cloud Platforms, and Data & AI, including operating model and governance implications.

Executive-level understanding of enterprise AI strategy and the implications of generative AI, agentic systems, data foundations, governance, security, and responsible adoption.

Ability to credibly advise executives on integrating Microsoft technologies with non-Microsoft cloud, data, AI, SaaS, and enterprise platforms.

Strong executive communication skills with the ability to translate technology decisions into business impact, investment choices, constraints, and risk.

Strong business and financial acumen, with the ability to connect technology strategy to investment, commercial outcomes, delivery economics, and measurable enterprise value.

Experience influencing large pursuits through credibility and solution strategy rather than pursuit mechanics.

Demonstrated ability to shape offerings, accelerators, platforms, or reusable intellectual property that improved pipeline, win rate, market differentiation, or delivery consistency.

Established senior relationships with hyperscaler and platform partners and the ability to drive joint solutioning and co-sell.

Experience leading through matrix influence across account, engineering, security, delivery, practice, and partner stakeholders.

Demonstrated experience developing, coaching, and mentoring senior architects or technology leaders.

Willingness to travel up to 25 percent as needed.

Maintain, or be willing to obtain and maintain, relevant professional certifications.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with hybrid environments and other cloud platforms, such as AWS and Google Cloud.

Prior CTO, CIO, Chief Architect, Distinguished Architect, VP of Engineering, or equivalent experience at an enterprise, software vendor, consulting organization, or hyperscaler.

Experience presenting in executive forums, steering committees, board-level settings, analyst briefings, or named industry events.

Experience operating within complex, highly regulated, or distributed enterprise environments.

Experience working across global or multicultural organizations and complex matrixed structures.
