The primary objective of the Excess and Surplus Lines Package Underwriter is to select, evaluate, price and manage unique human and social service accounts ensuring appropriate terms, conditions and pricing that leads to sustained and profitable business.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Evaluate new non-standard business submissions for appetite acceptability, proper pricing, and profitability.

Rate, quote, and bind coverage on new and renewal business opportunities utilizing appropriate terms, conditions and rates with producer partners leading to the binding of business

Maintain underwriting files and prepare reports and presentations as required

Act as a liaison between various departments including accounting, claims and loss control.

Approve and issue endorsement requests per underwriting guidelines and service guidelines

Work with other underwriters/departments to drive multi-line sales on individual accounts

Build and maintain strong relationships with our internal and external producer partners

Ensure terms and conditions match all regulatory requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum 3-5+ years of Property & Casualty E&S underwriting experience

Strong knowledge of insurance rating, forms and coverages

Ability to make timely decisions with appropriate information and consultation

Strong negotiation skills

Proven track record of building strong business relationships with agents and insureds

Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills

Ability to work both independently and within a team environment to drive results

Industry designations (CPCU, AU) are helpful
