Director, Rare Disease Product Marketing & Sales Enablement
Position Overview
We are seeking a Director of Product Marketing & Sales Enablement to shape how Zenith genomics is positioned, explained, and adopted in the rare disease market. Rare disease diagnostics is a market where the standard playbook doesn't apply: the ordering audience is specialized, the diagnostic odyssey is long, and every clinician interaction has to count.
This leader owns the work that turns strategy into field results: how our value is told, what the sales team carries into the room, how well the field is trained, and how quickly a new account moves from first conversation to routine ordering. You will partner closely with the marketing leader who owns clinical community engagement (KOLs, conferences, and speaker programs), and with Sales, Medical Affairs, Market Access, and corporate Commercial Operations, to ensure a single, integrated go-to-market plan.
The ideal candidate pairs analytical rigor with a roll-up-your-sleeves mindset, and is equally comfortable in a messaging workshop, a field ride-along, and a funnel dashboard. As the business scales, this role is expected to grow into a team.
Key Responsibilities
Product Marketing & Messaging
Positioning & Messaging: Own product positioning and the core messaging framework for Zenith, translating complex genomic science into clear value propositions for clinicians, genetic counselors, and health systems.
Collateral & Content: Lead development of sales and customer-facing assets (brochures, leave-behinds, clinical summaries, sell sheets, digital content), including the claims library and MLR / compliance review workflow.
Competitive Intelligence: Maintain a current view of the rare disease genomics landscape and equip the field with differentiated, evidence-based positioning.
Evidence Integration: Work with Medical and Clinical teams to convert new publications, real-world data, and utilization insights into messaging and field tools.
Launch Support: Own the product marketing workstream of the Zenith launch plan, including launch messaging, asset readiness, and field communications.
Sales Enablement & Customer Adoption
Field Enablement: Design and run onboarding, training, and ongoing education for the sales team on the science, the competitive landscape, and the value story; equip reps to be credible with geneticists and specialists.
Customer Adoption Journey: Map and continuously improve the path from first call to routine ordering, including implementation, EMR integration touchpoints, and utilization resources, to shorten time to adoption.
Sales Interface: Serve as the primary day-to-day marketing partner to Sales leadership; run regular field feedback loops and translate what reps and customers are telling us into messaging, tools, and priorities.
Market Access Pull-Through: Partner with Market Access and Reimbursement to convert coverage and payer developments into field-ready tools and messaging.
Commercial Insights & Targeting
Segmentation & Targeting: Partner with Sales and corporate analytics to define customer segments and account prioritization using clinical, claims, and market data; inform target lists and field focus.
Performance Tracking: Define the KPIs that track funnel health, ordering behavior, and adoption for the BU, and use insights to adjust messaging, enablement, and resource focus.
Sales Operations Liaison: Represent the Rare Disease BU's needs to corporate Commercial Operations (CRM, reporting, forecasting, and ordering workflow) and ensure the field has clean data and low-friction processes.
Cross-Functional Leadership
Integrated Planning: Partner with the clinical community marketing lead (KOL, conferences, speaker programs) so that field events, thought-leader engagement, and product messaging operate as one plan.
Matrix Collaboration: Serve as the commercial connective tissue across Sales, Medical Affairs, Product, Market Access, Commercial Operations, Regulatory, and Legal.
Budget & Vendor Stewardship: Manage assigned budget and agency / vendor partners with a focus on measurable ROI.
Team Growth: Build the business case and hire for additional capacity (for example, sales training, content, or analytics) as the business scales.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Business, or Marketing; MBA, MPH, or advanced scientific degree preferred.
8+ years of commercial experience in diagnostics, genomics, or life sciences, including product marketing, sales enablement, commercial strategy, or sales operations.
Demonstrated success supporting or leading product launches in a complex clinical diagnostics or specialty setting.
Experience in genomics, rare disease, or precision diagnostics strongly preferred.
Experience partnering directly with a field sales organization, including training, tools, and CRM / analytics.
Experience managing or developing a team is a plus.
Skills & Competencies
Messaging Craft: Ability to learn and distill complex clinical and genomic data into compelling, compliant narratives for HCPs and field teams.
Analytical Rigor: Comfortable interpreting segmentation, funnel, and commercial performance data to drive decisions.
Operational Excellence: Track record of building scalable commercial processes, enablement programs, and cross-functional workflows.
Reimbursement & Access Savvy: Working understanding of diagnostic reimbursement, LDT considerations, and payer dynamics.
Strategic Agility: Comfort operating in white space where market data is limited and the playbook is still being written.
Collaborative Leadership: Influences without authority, and builds strong partnerships with clinical and scientific experts.
Why This Role Matters
In rare disease, every day matters. The clarity with which we explain Zenith's value, and the speed at which a new account adopts it, directly affect how quickly a family reaches a diagnosis. You will build the messaging, field readiness, and adoption path that make that possible.
