Director of Engineering, Measurement
What Do We Do?
Triple Whale is the AI operating system built for modern ecommmerce. We help you see what's actually working in your business, what's not, and what to do next. Then we take action for you — pausing the underperforming ad, generating the next batch of creative, flagging the inventory risk before it bites.
We pull every signal in your business into one place, and put it on the most trusted measurement foundation in the industry. And on top of that, we give you the most actionable AI in commerce — Moby 2 — letting you tap any LLM you want, grounded in the full context of your business. Moby 2 doesn't just surface insights, it executes decisions for you, with automations that make the rest of your stack smarter.
The result: more than 65,000 brands like Pressed Juicery, OUAI, and True Classic turn mountains of complex data into actions that actually grow profit, at a speed and scale that is not humanly possible.
Why Triple Whale Needs You:
We’re looking for a Director of Engineering to lead our Measurement engineering organization, currently spanning approximately five teams (15 engineers) and growing. You’ll directly manage the team leads and own the area’s technical direction, execution, and operational performance with the opportunity to shape both the systems we build and how our teams work as we scale.
This role is approximately 70% management and 30% hands-on technical work. To succeed at Triple Whale, you need to understand the details deeply: how systems work, where data comes from, why decisions were made, and what is blocking progress. You should be comfortable moving from a leadership discussion into code, data flows, or a production investigation. Staying close to the code and production systems will give you a deep understanding of their intricacies, dependencies, and trade-offs, grounding your leadership in firsthand technical knowledge.
Triple Whale has experienced rapid growth while intentionally maintaining a startup mindset. We’ve prioritized speed, ownership, and the ability to move quickly over adding process for process’s sake. As we continue to scale, part of this role will be identifying where greater structure and stronger processes will help the team operate more effectively, while being thoughtful not to introduce unnecessary bureaucracy or compromise the speed that is core to how we work. We tend to work in short cycles and adapt quickly to customer needs, which means to be effective you must be comfortable with regular context switching and dynamic prioritization.
You’ll connect the work across Measurement, bringing together business priorities, customer needs, and technical context so teams can make clear decisions and deliver effectively. You’ll work closely with our Director of Product for Measurement and partner with leadership and team leads to translate company direction into clear engineering priorities, making trade-offs explicit and giving teams the context to execute while keeping them informed and protecting their focus.
Who This Is An Opportunity For:
This is an opportunity for someone who wants to:
Own and scale a growing, multi-team engineering organization.
Stay close to the technology and the customer problems we’re solving.
Work with high autonomy, little bureaucracy, and a strong sense of ownership.
Genuinely loves managing people. Someone who is naturally good at developing leaders, building strong teams, and getting the best out of people.
What You’ll Do:
Coordinate, Prioritize, and Unblock
Stay closely connected to leadership, the Director of Product, and team leads, bringing together technical and business context to align priorities across the domain and understand changing priorities.
Bring clarity to evolving or competing requests, using your judgment to define practical next steps and help teams move forward as details take shape.
Distinguish exploratory ideas from agreed changes in direction. When priorities shift, clarify what continues, what changes, and what stops, making delivery implications visible while protecting the teams’ focus.
Resolve cross-team dependencies, bring the right people together, and unblock decisions that team leads cannot advance alone. Follow decisions through to completion.
Coordinate through direct conversations and lightweight communication, giving teams the context they need without adding unnecessary processes or becoming a bottleneck.
Drive Clarity & Execution: Turn unclear requests into clear next steps; Keep teams aligned when priorities change; Unblock decisions and dependencies teams can’t resolve on their own; Keep communication simple, direct, and efficient.
Lead an Independent, Accountable Organization
Set clear expectations for delivery, technical quality, people management, and ownership.
Own hiring, organizational structure, and performance management. Address people and performance issues directly and respectfully.
Give the team leads the authority to make decisions independently and hold them accountable for outcomes.
Provide candid feedback and practical support while expecting people to take ownership over their continued growth.
Build trust so that people raise concerns early, challenge assumptions, and act on problems beyond their assigned tasks.
Apply Strategic Judgment
Shape engineering direction in partnership with the Director of Product and engineering leadership.
Balance near-term business priorities with long-term technical needs, including reliability, data correctness, infrastructure cost, and technical debt.
Understand the broader impact of decisions and make clear recommendations based on tradeoffs, costs, and delivery implications.
Move quickly when decisions are reversible, apply greater rigor when the stakes are higher, and adjust as new information becomes available.
Stay Deep in the Technology
Know the systems your teams own and be deep into the technical details.
Jump into designs, code, debugging, or production issues when your involvement can help.
Ensure systems are reliable, accurate, scalable, and cost-effective.
Take ownership of critical technical issues through resolution.
Stay technically involved without taking ownership away from team leads.
Partner Across Product and the Industry
Be the primary engineering counterpart to our Director of Product for Measurement, sharing accountability for customer outcomes.
Resolve disagreements between Product and Engineering through clear reasoning and explicit trade-offs.
Explain complex technical issues clearly to leadership and nontechnical stakeholders.
Represent Triple Whale in technical and strategic discussions with partners such as Meta, Google, and TikTok.
Lead Advanced AI Adoption
Use AI extensively in your own work, including coding, technical investigation, analysis, and planning.
Build and improve AI-assisted workflows and agent-based automation that solve real problems for the teams.
Expect team leads to develop their own practical AI proficiency and apply it to their work.
Validate AI-generated output and maintain clear standards for security, privacy, and data quality.
Evaluate tools through hands-on use and demonstrated results.
What You’ll Bring
2-3 years of proven experience managing engineering teams and leads across multiple teams, with accountability for people, delivery, and production systems.
Experience leading in a fast-growing startup, bringing clarity to evolving priorities and developing practical ways of working as the organization scales.
Strong coordination skills and the ability to manage frequent context switching without losing important details or leaving issues unresolved.
Sound judgment to balance competing input, set clear priorities, and help teams move forward confidently as details take shape.
Experience scaling engineering organizations, including hiring and developing strong leaders, building high-performing teams, and demonstrating strong judgment in identifying top performers and underperformance, with the ability to make clear, timely talent decisions when needed.
A strong hands-on software engineering background and current ability to read code, review architecture, and investigate complex production problems.
Significant experience working with big data and data engineering teams in very high-scale production environments.
A strong understanding of distributed systems, data pipelines, analytical workloads, and their operational trade-offs.
Deep attention to detail and the ability to learn unfamiliar tools, codebases, and domains independently.
Advanced, practical AI proficiency, including substantial use of AI coding tools, LLMs, and agent-based workflows. You can demonstrate your work, explain its limitations, and show how you validate results.
High emotional intelligence and genuine respect for people, paired with clear accountability.
Low ego and intellectual honesty. You seek expertise and change your view when the evidence changes.
Native-level English proficiency, written and spoken, sufficient to lead nuanced technical discussions, write clear proposals, and represent Triple Whale with global partners.
Ability to work from our Jerusalem office at least three days a week, with Monday and Wednesday required.
Full availability in the evenings.
Nice to Have

Experience collaborating directly with Meta, Google, or TikTok on integrations, measurement, or data partnerships.
Experience with streaming data systems and analytical databases such as ClickHouse, BigQuery, Snowflake, or similar technologies.
