THE WORK:

As our Risk team expands globally, we are seeking a strategic, analytical, and highly collaborative Director, Credit Risk. In this role, you will own credit risk across the Ripple group: setting the overarching framework for how we manage existing credit exposure while proactively structuring new, innovative lending deals (both on and off-chain) to drive Ripple’s credit business forward.

You will act as a true commercial partner to Sales, Product, Trading, Legal, Finance, and Treasury every day, balancing business growth with proactive, data-driven risk management.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Own & Scale Credit Strategy: Evolve and improve Ripple’s global credit risk framework (including policies, risk appetites, underwriting standards, and limit structures), ensuring they scale dynamically with business growth.

Drive Commercial Credit Structuring: Partner proactively with Sales, Product, Trading, and Financial Services teams to structure institutional credit solutions, enable new revenue streams, and facilitate deal execution within risk appetite.

Pioneer On-Chain Risk Management: Partner closely with Product and Engineering teams to design and build risk parameters, automated monitoring, and collateral mechanisms for on-chain lending protocols and digital asset products.

Portfolio Monitoring & Stress Testing: Oversee portfolio health, concentrations, covenants, and collateral in real time. Develop sophisticated internal ratings, scorecards, and stress-testing models tailored to digital asset volatility, market dislocations, and liquidity risks.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Legal and Compliance to negotiate credit documentation, master agreements, and security packages while serving as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, the Risk Committee, and the Board.

Team Leadership & Development: Build, mentor, and empower a high-performing credit team as Ripple scales globally.

Data & Automation: Drive tooling and automation initiatives to continuously elevate credit monitoring, reporting, and data quality.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

Proven Track Record & Accomplishments: 10+ years of progressive credit risk, lending, or structured credit experience at a bank, prime broker, fintech, or digital asset firm, including 3+ years successfully building and managing teams.

Commercial Mindset: Demonstrated success partnering with commercial teams to structure, negotiate, and close complex institutional lending or credit transactions.

Low Ego & High Collaboration: A humble, team-first approach. You lead with empathy, actively seek out diverse perspectives, elevate those around you, and build strong cross-functional relationships.

Analytical & Technical Excellence: Exceptional financial modeling skills (Excel, Google Sheets, SQL/Python a plus) and deep expertise in counterparty credit analysis, margin/collateral frameworks, and financial statement review.

Crypto & Market Knowledge: Strong understanding of digital assets, stablecoins, lending protocols, and crypto market dynamics, including unique volatility, custody, settlement, and liquidity risks.

Technology Forward: Experience partnering with technical teams to design and build models, leverage Agentic AI solutions to enable underwriting and monitoring, and experience integrating third party models and AI platforms in the credit risk space

Proactive & Solution-Oriented: Highly self-directed with a strong bias for action. You proactively identify emerging risks, propose pragmatic solutions, and can effectively say "no" constructively when required.

Strong Communication: Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial and risk concepts clearly to executives, board members, and external partners.

Education & Credentials: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field (MBA, CFA, or FRM strongly preferred).
