About the role 💭

We’re looking for a Design Engineer who lives at the intersection of design and code. You’ll sit directly with the Product Design team, alongside a group of designers who are AI-first builders, that work across a range of tools and constantly explore new workflows.

You’ll help prototype, build, and polish the experiences across the Dashboard, Admin Portal, AuthKit, Atlas, and more. You’ll help bring ambitious ideas to life by prototyping directly in code, validating with customers, and shipping production experiences with a high bar for craft. Your work reaches past the product itself: you’ll contribute to our design system and help improve how everyone at the company builds.

Responsibilities ✔️

- Build production-quality components and interactions across WorkOS products

- Prototype concepts, build new products, and experiment with new interaction patterns

- Raise the quality of WorkDS, our design system, by improving performance, state, accessibility, and interaction behaviour

- Work alongside product teams to test your ideas with customers directly and make sure what ships is right

- Work in the open, sharing work in progress early, pulling others in to get to the right answer faster

- Improve how the company builds, through design system contributions and agent instructions

Qualifications 🌟

- You have an eye for design details, care deeply about craft, and have a history of shipping polished products

- You can articulate why you made a design decision, not just what you made. You think through alternatives, weigh tradeoffs, and consider how your choices affect the entire product.

- You account for real-world complexity — edge cases, error and empty states, accessibility, and technical constraints — without letting process slow you down. You ship, learn, and iterate.

- You’re equally comfortable in code as you are in Figma/Paper and work across tools to refine your explorations, while also being excited to explore new tools and workflows and share what you learn with the team.

- You work AI-first and have refined how you do it, are able to achieve high-quality output, and share your workflows with others

- You spot design gaps across the product and fix them without waiting to be asked. You default to showing work early, sharing prototypes in the open, and pulling in others to get to the right solution faster.

- Experience working on small teams in high-agency, fast-paced environments

- Bonus: Experience with our stack of TypeScript, React, and Radix

- Bonus: Experience with developer tools, enterprise software, or other technical products
