Compliance & Reporting Engineer

Mark43's mission is to empower communities and their governments with new technologies that improve the safety and quality of life for all. We build powerful, scalable, and elegant software that sets a new standard for the tools upon which our first responders rely. Our users are diverse, and we are therefore committed to embracing diversity of thought and experience within our team.

We are looking for a Compliance & Reporting Engineer to join our Compliance & Reporting customer team. This is a unique opportunity to help shape a brand new team responsible for building configurable reports that enable Mark43 to expand into new markets and support customers in new jurisdictions. Your work will have a direct impact on the company's growth by helping unlock new customers, accelerate deployments, and ensure our platform meets complex state and agency-specific reporting requirements.

If you're excited about solving customer problems, building scalable processes from the ground up, and working at the intersection of technology, compliance, and public safety, we'd love to meet you.

What You'll Do

If you were part of our team, here are some things you would have done last week:

Built and configured reporting forms that satisfy state-specific compliance requirements, helping customers successfully deploy Mark43 in new jurisdictions.

Partnered with Customer Success, Solutions Engineering, Product, and Engineering teams to understand customer reporting needs and translate them into scalable technical solutions.

Developed configurable forms and reporting workflows that reduce customization while meeting diverse customer requirements.

Worked with customers to troubleshoot reporting and compliance challenges and identify opportunities to improve the product.

Helped establish engineering standards, processes, and best practices for a brand new team that will play a key role in Mark43's continued growth.

Wrote and maintained scripts using JavaScript, JSON, and related technologies to support form configuration and automation.

Improved internal documentation and tooling to make compliance reporting easier to build, maintain, and scale.

What You'll Need

We're looking for a Compliance & Reporting Engineer with experience working in public safety technology and a passion for building solutions that directly impact customers. This role requires someone who is comfortable navigating technical challenges while collaborating closely with customer-facing teams to deliver practical, scalable outcomes.

Successful candidates will have:

Professional experience working in the public safety technology space.

Experience building or configuring forms, workflows, or reporting solutions. Experience with Forms.io is strongly preferred.

Experience working with scripting and configuration technologies such as JavaScript, JSON, or similar languages.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate customer requirements into technical solutions.

Experience collaborating across Engineering, Product, Customer Success, and other cross-functional teams.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work directly with customers when needed.

People who thrive on our team also tend to share the following characteristics:

Customer obsessed. You enjoy understanding complex customer challenges and building solutions that have a meaningful impact.

Comfortable with ambiguity. You're energized by building new processes, defining best practices, and helping shape a growing team.

Collaborative and humble. You work effectively across technical and customer-facing teams, value diverse perspectives, and are always looking to learn.

Ownership mindset. You take initiative, follow through, and look for opportunities to improve both the product and the way the team works.

Location

Our team is fully remote within Mark43's approved hiring states. We also have offices in New York, Boston, and Manchester, UK, for employees who prefer a hybrid work environment.
