What you'll do

Giga builds data centers in towns that have never hosted one. How we talk to those communities matters as much as how we build. The Communications Manager owns Giga's community message: the single source of truth for what we say in every community we operate in, the landing pages residents find when they search us, the materials our leadership carries into town halls, and the relationship with the one local outlet covering the project.

You are not the face of Giga in the room. You're the person who makes sure everyone who is has the right message, the right materials, and a clear record of every commitment we've made. Projects owns the ground game and the relationships. You own the narrative that travels with it — and the discipline that keeps it consistent across every site at once.

This role does not cover state or federal government affairs, pre-development relationship building with county judges, commissioners, or landowners.

Where you'll work

This position is available to remote candidates in the United States.

Responsibilities

Own the single source of truth for community messaging: one Giga-level messaging document plus one per community, covering approved language, what we don't say, and the current Q&A.

Turn project decisions into internal narrative documents. When leadership and the Projects team decide what gets shared from a study or report, you translate that decision into internal messaging so every Giga employee tells the same story.

Build, launch, and maintain the community landing page for each site.

Own the community communications calendar: what goes out, where, and when, across all active sites.

Own the community goodwill calendar and tracker: what we've committed to, what we've delivered, and what's still outstanding.

Produce town hall and community meeting materials, including slides, handouts, posters, FAQs, and printed collateral.

Build and hold relationships with local media. Most of these towns have one outlet. You are the person that reporter knows, and you field the routine call, coordinate with our PR agency, and line up founder comment when a reporter wants it.

Source and execute local goodwill. Find the opportunities, pitch them to the Projects team for buy-in, then do the calling and emailing to make them happen.

Support community benefit agreements with drafting support, plain-language versions, and adoption into town hall materials.

Support public meetings with materials, prep, and messaging.

Route any reporter inquiry that escalates past routine to the Director of Content & Communications.

Requirements

4+ years in communications, public affairs, corporate communications, or content marketing.

Exceptional writing skills, with demonstrated ability to turn technical, legal, or regulatory material into plain language a resident can read in ninety seconds.

Experience building messaging documents, FAQs, and Q&A that other people use without you in the room.

Experience producing presentation and print materials on deadline, including slides, handouts, and one-pagers.

Experience working with reporters, including fielding inquiries and coordinating executive comment.

Ability to run a content calendar and a commitments tracker across multiple simultaneous projects without anything falling through.

Sound judgment on sensitive community, property, legal, and reputational matters, including a clear sense of what to escalate and when.

Comfort working alongside technical, legal, construction, and executive teams.

Willingness to travel to project communities roughly 10-20% of the time.

Bonus points

Data center, energy, utility, or infrastructure industry experience.

Experience communicating in small-town or rural settings.

Experience managing community investment, sponsorship, or corporate giving programs.

Experience working alongside an outside PR agency.

Hands-on experience publishing in Webflow or a comparable CMS.
