Experience: 2+ years in graphic/visual design. A sharp portfolio beats a strict years cutoff — show us the work.

As the Editorial Graphic Designer for Razorpay's editorial department, you'll shape how our stories look, feel, and move. Think of the visual language of Eye on Design, The New Yorker, Its Nice That,  Vox, The Swaddle, Ugra, Homegrown, The Ken: conceptual, witty, opinionated editorial art — not literal renderings of what the headline says. A story about payments fraud shouldn't get a stock-style padlock; it should communicate an idea. Day to day, you'll move between illustration and information design, and help shape the publication's visual voice as it grows — working alongside editors and writers who care about how stories look, with real room to experiment.

What we expect from you

A distinct visual point of view, with oodles of personality and wit. Your work should be recognisable as yours.

Conceptual thinking above all: you turn abstract ideas into visual metaphors. Given a draft, you propose the treatment — illustration, collage, infographic, or a smart type-only cover — rather than decorating the obvious.

Adept with AI tools and workflows - with the curiosity to stay on top of the newest ones as the industry moves: you experiment early, form your own view on what's actually useful, and build it into how you work.

Genuine range across mediums: hand-drawn and digital illustration, collage, mixed media, photo manipulation, expressive typography, and AI-assisted graphics/illustration used with taste and craft (curation and finishing, not raw prompt output).

Strong fundamentals - layout, typography, hierarchy, colour, grid systems - with an editorial (not just product) sensibility.

Ability to turn data and complex reporting into clear, engaging infographics and data visualizations: charts, timelines, maps, explainer diagrams.

Comfort designing for long-form digital reading - scrollytelling, interactive charts, embedded visual essays - not just static pages.

Plugged into visual culture: you follow design trends, internet aesthetics, and editorial art globally - and you have opinions about them that show up in your work.

Strong self-direction: you take a piece from concept sketch to shipped visual with minimal hand-holding, and can explain your choices clearly to editors and reporters.

Tools

Figma, Illustrator, Photoshop for graphics, illustration, collage, and layout

AI image tools (Midjourney, Gemini, Firefly, or similar) as one instrument among many - you know when to reach for them and when not to

Hand-drawn illustrations are a plus
