Billing Associate

We are seeking a detail-oriented Billing Associate to join the Noctrix Health Billing & Collections team. This position is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation, submission, and resubmission of medical claims and for ensuring patient orders and supporting documentation meet applicable payer requirements before billing.
The ideal candidate has experience in medical billing or health insurance and brings strong attention to detail when reviewing patient information, insurance documentation, claims, and supporting records. This individual will collaborate closely with internal teams to resolve documentation gaps, maintain accurate billing records, and support timely and accurate reimbursement.
This is a full-time, hybrid position based in Mobile, AL, with a minimum of three days onsite per week.
Responsibilities
Review patient orders and supporting documentation to ensure they meet applicable insurance and payer requirements prior to claim submission
Verify required prior authorization, pricing agreement, and other reimbursement documentation
Identify missing, incomplete, or inconsistent information and collaborate with appropriate internal teams to obtain required documentation
Review claims for accurate patient, provider, product, diagnosis, coding, and insurance information before submission
Prepare and submit medical claims accurately and within established timelines
Submit claims through electronic billing systems, payer portals, paper mail, and other required submission methods
Resubmit corrected claims and supporting documentation when necessary
Review patient accounts, order information, and applicable records to confirm billing eligibility
Maintain accurate claim submission status and billing information within patient and billing systems
Verify new payers and establish payer profiles within the billing system
Create invoices and process payments for self-pay patients in accordance with company procedures
Maintain accurate, complete, and organized billing records and supporting documentation
Collaborate with internal teams to resolve patient order discrepancies and obtain missing billing or insurance information
Partner with Finance and other internal stakeholders as needed to provide claims information and support reconciliation activities
Assist with billing data entry, audits, reporting, and other administrative activities as needed
Identify recurring documentation or billing issues and escalate trends or opportunities for process improvement
Follow company policies and procedures related to billing, documentation, patient information, and confidentiality
Protect patient privacy and handle protected health information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA and applicable regulatory requirements
Maintain a high level of accuracy and productivity while managing multiple claims and priorities in a fast-paced environment
Requirements
1+ year of experience in a medical billing office, medical insurance setting, healthcare reimbursement, revenue cycle, or related healthcare environment
Experience preparing or submitting medical insurance claims
Familiarity with medical billing and insurance reimbursement workflows
Ability to review patient, provider, insurance, and claim information for accuracy and completeness
Strong documentation management skills and exceptional attention to detail
Familiarity with medical terminology and health insurance terminology
Experience working with medical billing systems, CRM platforms, or other healthcare information systems
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple claims, priorities, and deadlines
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to identify discrepancies and work collaboratively with internal teams to resolve issues
Experience in a patient support, customer service, or customer care environment
Ability to effectively de-escalate and resolve difficult situations
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with NikoHealth, Brightree, or similar medical billing and revenue cycle systems
Experience with Salesforce and Microsoft applications
Experience reviewing prior authorization or payer documentation before claim submission
Experience submitting both electronic and paper medical claims
Experience with claim corrections and resubmissions
Experience within DME, medical device, or healthcare reimbursement
Experience working within a startup or rapidly growing healthcare organization
Compensation
Base Pay: $50,000–$60,000 per year
Annual Bonus Eligibility
