Role Description and Mission:

Agero is seeking a Data Engineer who is passionate about data and eager to make a meaningful impact. You will design, build, and maintain the core data infrastructure that powers our analytics. In this role, you will collaborate directly with product, engineering, and business professionals to deeply understand our operational business model and translate it into effective data solutions. A major focus of this role will be supporting our finance data modeling, specifically managing data integrations for our current ERP system (EBS) and driving the upcoming migration to Workday. We are looking for an engineer who prioritizes code reusability, scalable architecture, data governance, and CI/CD best practices to deliver reliable, high-quality, and secure data.

Key Outcomes:

Develop and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines focused on our core stack of Snowflake and AWS.

Build modular, scalable data models using dbt Core, designing a Medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold) that transforms raw ingestion feeds into curated, business-ready data marts.

Work cross-functionally with business stakeholders to understand source systems and downstream consumption needs, translating complex financial workflows into reliable data solutions.

Write reusable, efficient, and scalable code in Python and SQL.

Enforce strict data governance and security best practices, including implementing RBAC across pipelines to protect critical financials and ensure compliance.

Implement data quality control by establishing automated testing frameworks, data observability, and comprehensive documentation to ensure safe data democratization.

Monitor cloud costs by analyzing resource usage and performing query optimization in Snowflake.

Skills, Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in a technical field and 3-5 years of industry experience

Extensive experience with Snowflake and proven expertise in designing scalable data solutions in AWS.

Deep expertise in dbt Core, Medallion architecture principles, dimensional modeling techniques, and complex data transformations.

Proven experience with finance data modeling and a strong understanding of enterprise ERP systems (experience with Oracle EBS and/or Workday is highly preferred).

Strong understanding of data governance, security protocols, and RBAC to securely handle and protect sensitive enterprise financial data.

Advanced SQL skills for querying databases and proficiency in Python for data processing.

Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and implementing CI/CD pipelines for safe, automated deployments.

Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
