Aviation Design EIT
JOB SUMMARY:
Supports engineering projects within Aviation Design under the direction of a Professional Engineer. Assist with preparation of planning documents, engineering reports, plans, specifications, and estimates for projects. This is a full-time position based out of our Indianapolis, IN office location. Working in a hybrid capacity out of this office is required.
We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position. Applicants must already possess work authorization in the country the job is located.
JOB DUTIES:
Assists with planning and execution of preparation of Construction plans, contract documents, technical specifications, and various technical reports.
Assist with calculating estimated quantities, preparing preliminary rough order of magnitude (ROM) cost estimates, and engineering estimates for construction.
Review existing documents, such as record drawings (as-builts), design reports, final reports, utility reports/maps, relevant regulatory permits, and previous surveys, for the incorporation into active design assignments.
Apply standard engineering practices and techniques to adjust and correlate data. Recognize and resolve discrepancies in results and follow operations through a series of related steps or processes.
Perform engineering computations, conduct evaluations, design analysis, and design development.
Utilize knowledge gained as the basis for increasing responsibilities over time.
Conduct field investigations and observe construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications and safety standards.
Utilize engineering software and tools to analyze data, create designs, and prepare technical reports.
Works as a member of a project team in the development of data and/or applications.
Maintain thorough documentation of project activities, including field notes, design changes, and progress reports.
Learn and adhere to project/company specific QA procedures.
Continue professional development through ongoing education and participation in industry-related activities.
Serve as a field engineer during construction of a project, as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to travel as needed up to 25%.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET/EAC-accredited program required.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
No experience required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Solid understanding of engineering principles, field investigations, construction observations, and the application of advanced engineering techniques.
Ability to participate in field investigations.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret basic scientific, technical, financial, and legal documents.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries from clients, regulatory agencies, and/or members of the business community.
Strong verbal and written communication skills for both internal and external relationships.
Strong Microsoft Office suite skills.
Knowledge of discipline-related software applications.
Knowledge of industry standards and regulations in these sectors.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Ability and willingness to engage in continuous learning and professional development.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
1 year of relevant engineering experience preferred.
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, OR TRAINING:
Engineer in Training (EIT) certification preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:
Observe and document construction activities.
Sitting for extended periods of time.
Operate and manipulate standard office equipment.
Occasionally reach, bend, climb and/or balance.
Frequently lift and/or move 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Pay Range
$65,800—$82,300 USD
