About the Role:

Dragos IT is hiring a Senior BI Platform Engineer to own our Microsoft Fabric and Power BI platform end to end—administration, governance, security, performance, and cost. You'll also build and maintain the data integration pipelines and access layer that power both our BI tools and emerging AI data agents. As the technical owner of the platform, you'll set standards, make architectural decisions, and act as the bridge between BI, IT, Security, and business stakeholders. There is also room to help drive broader AI enablement across the business — from Microsoft 365 Copilot to other assistants and agents (for a candidate interested in that space).

Responsibilities:

Administer Fabric tenants, capacities (F-SKU), workspaces, and the OneLake ecosystem (Lakehouses, Warehouses, Pipelines, Dataflows); optimize for performance, reliability, and cost.

Manage Power BI tenant settings, workspaces, gateways, and dataset/semantic-model refresh, with governance for content sprawl, certified content, and sharing standards.

Build and enforce security and access controls (RBAC, least-privilege) via Microsoft Entra ID; apply data governance controls (sensitivity labels, DLP) with Microsoft Purview; and run regular access and capacity audits.

Automate operations and support CI/CD for Fabric/Power BI assets using REST APIs, PowerShell, and Power Automate.

Build and maintain data integration pipelines that securely ingest data from diverse sources — engineering/product databases, third-party APIs, and more — into our centralized lakehouse.

Own the data access layer for BI tools and AI data agents (e.g., Claude and other LLM-based agents), ensuring secure, role-based, and auditable access to lakehouse resources.

Partner with IT Security to define authentication and authorization patterns (SSO, OAuth, service accounts) for connecting AI agents and BI platforms to sensitive data sources.

Act as the primary liaison between IT and business units, gathering requirements from business stakeholders and translating them into technical specifications, data models, and pipeline designs.

Qualifications:

5+ years administering enterprise data/analytics and BI platforms, with hands-on ownership of a cloud data platform, data warehouse/lakehouse, or BI environment in production.

Strong knowledge of platform and capacity administration, workspace and access governance, and modern data warehouse/lakehouse architecture.

Experience building data integration pipelines and integrating data from diverse source systems, including engineering/operational databases and third-party APIs.

Experience with enterprise identity and access management (SSO, RBAC, least-privilege), plus a solid understanding of data governance and security best practices (encryption, data classification, DLP, auditing).

Strong SQL, scripting, and automation skills (e.g., Python) and experience integrating systems and data via REST APIs.

Able to work independently and translate business requirements and technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.

Compensation:

Salary: $135,000
