WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN OUR TEAM

This role is ideal for someone who loves AI, thinks in systems, and enjoys building practical solutions that drive measurable impact. You’ll be one of our first AI Strategists, building custom AI solutions from scratch for Smartcat’s largest strategic customers. You’ll work in a pod with a dedicated Strategic Account Executive and Technical Account Manager, and sometimes a Forward Deployed Engineer. You don’t need to be a software engineer, but you do need real fluency with modern AI tools, fast experimentation, and a builder’s instinct. You’ll engage senior executives to define where AI creates value, then build the agents and workflows that deliver it, and bring customer insights back to Product.

MISSION

Design and build custom AI workflows and agents from scratch for Smartcat’s strategic customers, translating each customer’s ambiguous business problems into working, scalable, measurable AI solutions that drive adoption and expand the relationship.

OUTCOMES

Partner with business leaders and technical teams at strategic customers to scope high-value AI use cases and align on success metrics, from the sales cycle through delivery

Identify where AI workflows can deliver ROI, efficiency, and competitive advantage, and build the business case with the account team

Design, build, and deploy new custom AI solutions and agents for customers, going beyond reconfiguring existing workflows

Work with structured and unstructured customer data, including vector databases, MCP, and RAG, and build agents that combine semantic and keyword search across customer knowledge bases and content

Own customer engagements end to end, from ideation through delivery, ensuring long-term adoption and measurable business outcomes

Work as part of a customer pod with the Strategic Account Executive, Technical Account Manager, and Forward Deployed Engineer

Train and empower customer teams to use and iterate on the AI workflows you build, and drive onboarding and change management so solutions become part of their day-to-day operations

Act as the voice of the customer, surfacing needs, patterns, and insights that inform Smartcat’s product roadmap

Contribute playbooks, reusable solution patterns, and case studies, and help drive AI-first thinking across the team

HOW YOU’LL RAMP

By Day 30:

Learn Smartcat’s platform, AI agent capabilities, and the types of AI workflows customers already run

Meet your pod partners (Strategic Account Executives, Technical Account Managers, Forward Deployed Engineers) and understand how each role contributes

Get oriented on your assigned strategic accounts: business goals, key stakeholders, current workflows, and open opportunities

Get set up with the team’s AI tooling and development environment

By Day 60:

Join customer conversations with the account team to scope AI use cases and define success metrics

Build and test a first custom AI solution or agent for a live customer opportunity

Document the use case, approach, and expected business impact

By Day 90:

Own a customer engagement from scoping through delivery, with a working solution in the customer’s hands

Run enablement or training for the customer’s team and support their adoption

Bring customer feedback and reusable patterns back to Product and the wider team

WHAT YOU’VE ACCOMPLISHED

Experience in a customer-facing AI, solutions, consulting, or technical role, ideally in B2B SaaS or enterprise environments

A track record of building AI-powered workflows, agents, or automations that solved real business problems, not just integrations

An AI-first way of working: real hands-on experience with AI coding tools such as Claude, Cursor, Cline, or similar (“vibe coding”), used as the default way you build, test, and solve problems

Hands-on experience building with Python, along with AI coding tools such as Claude, Cursor, or Cline; SQL or data analysis is a plus

Familiarity with vector databases, MCP, RAG, and agent design

Comfort with the command line, basic Linux administration, and cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP)

The ability to translate ambiguous business problems into practical, scalable AI solutions, and to drive projects end to end

Comfort engaging both technical stakeholders and senior executives, and translating between the two, with strong communication and collaboration skills

A customer-centric mindset, with the ability to connect technical capabilities to business value

Experience delivering solutions in complex enterprise organizations while operating comfortably in a fast-moving startup environment

A builder mentality: bias for action, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to create structure where none exists

Experience with change management and customer enablement

Leading cross-functional initiatives or teams is a nice to have

Flexibility to travel for customer engagements
