About the project

We are looking for a senior AEM developer who is strongest on the backend. Most of your time goes into Java, Spring Boot, AEM backend development, and AWS services, with enough frontend skill to support the team on AEM components and React when delivery calls for it.

This is a client-facing service delivery role on a long-running engagement with a global enterprise client. It needs real technical depth and clear communication in equal measure. You will work directly with client stakeholders and cross-functional teams, turn business requirements into AEM-based solutions, and own complex backend features and integrations end to end. You will also contribute to architectural decisions and help raise engineering standards across a global delivery team.

What you will do

Design and build AEM backend solutions: Sling models, OSGi services, servlets, schedulers, and workflows, with clean separation of concerns and maintainable code.

Build services in Java and Spring Boot, exposing and consuming REST and GraphQL APIs used by AEM and other enterprise systems.

Design, deploy, and run AWS components (EC2, Lambda, SQS) behind AEM delivery, including storage and caching patterns with DynamoDB and Redis.

Integrate AEM with external APIs, enterprise systems, and third-party services, owning authentication, error handling, and the performance of those integrations.

Support the frontend side of delivery when the team needs it: AEM components with HTL (Sightly), plus HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React.

Troubleshoot and debug across backend, cloud, and frontend layers, and resolve issues quickly.

Lead code reviews, hold the line on backend standards and AEM best practice, and mentor junior developers on Java, Spring Boot, and AEM backend patterns.

Work with architects, UX and design, and QA through the project lifecycle, and keep client stakeholders current on progress, requirements, and expectations.

Improve CI/CD pipelines, Maven builds, and AEM package management, and take an active part in Agile ceremonies.

What we are looking for

Eight years or more in software development, with a clear focus on backend engineering.

At least five years of hands-on Adobe Experience Manager (AEM 6.x and/or AEM as a Cloud Service), primarily backend: Sling models, OSGi services, servlets, workflows, and dispatcher and caching considerations.

Strong Java and Spring Boot, including service design, testing, and performance tuning.

Hands-on AEM as a Cloud Service and Adobe Cloud Manager, including deployment pipelines and environment management.

Exposure to AEM DAM, Multi-Site Manager, and localization workflows.

Solid hands-on AWS with EC2, Lambda, and SQS, including deploying and monitoring production workloads.

REST and GraphQL API design and integration patterns, plus AEM Content Fragments, Experience Fragments, and the AEM GraphQL API for headless and hybrid content delivery.

Working frontend knowledge (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, HTL, React), enough to build AEM components and support the frontend team.

Maven-based builds, Git, CI/CD, and AEM package management.

Experience delivering in Agile or Scrum environments.

Active use of AI coding tools in your daily workflow, Windsurf and Claude in particular. We expect you to be comfortable using AI for code generation, debugging, documentation, and speeding up implementation.

Business-level English.
