Survey Field Technician (Energy) - West Texas

We are seeking an Survey Field Technician (Energy) to support surveying operations across West Texas energy projects. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, traveling to project sites, and operating advanced survey equipment in a fast-paced field environment. Candidates should either be based in the Fort Worth area and willing to travel extensively to Midland and surrounding West Texas locations or already reside in the West Texas region.
As a Survey Field Technician, you will work closely with a Survey Party Chief to support data collection efforts for a variety of surveying projects, including boundary, topographic, preliminary, ALTA, and utility/line location surveys.
What You'll Do
Assist the Survey Party Chief with daily survey field operations.
Operate and maintain survey instruments used to collect accurate field data.
Support boundary, topographic, ALTA, preliminary, utility, and line location surveys.
Prepare and organize equipment and supplies needed for daily field activities.
Collect, record, and manage survey data under the direction of the Survey Party Chief.
Communicate equipment needs, deficiencies, and field issues to the Survey Party Chief.
Ensure survey instruments remain properly calibrated and operational.
Participate in Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and adhere to all safety requirements.
Assist with vehicle, trailer, UTV, and equipment inspections.
Clean, maintain, and inventory assigned survey equipment and vehicles.
Follow company survey procedures, safety guidelines, and project requirements.

Ability to work outdoors in varied weather and field conditions.
Willingness to travel extensively throughout West Texas and surrounding project areas.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions.
Ability to work effectively as part of a field team.
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Ability to lift and carry survey equipment and work on uneven terrain.
Nice to Have
Previous experience in land surveying, construction, energy, utilities, or related field work.
Basic understanding of mathematics, measurements, and data collection.
Familiarity with survey instruments, GPS equipment, total stations, or related technology.
