As Senior Manager, Engineering for Protect, you will lead a critical engineering area within Pindrop’s fraud detection platform. This role combines hands-on technical credibility with strong people leadership. You will help your team build and operate scalable, high-performance services that power real-time fraud detection, while partnering closely with Product, Research, and peer engineering leaders to deliver meaningful customer outcomes.

More specifically, you will:

Lead the strategy, execution, and day-to-day engineering operations for a key Protect domain, with a focus on reliability, delivery quality, and technical health.

Manage, mentor, and grow a team of engineers, building a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and strong technical execution.

Stay close to the architecture and implementation details, moving comfortably between planning, technical design, and operational problem-solving when needed.

Partner with Product, Research, SRE, and adjacent engineering teams to prioritize work, remove bottlenecks, and deliver scalable solutions in a multi-cloud environment.

Strengthen engineering fundamentals across your area, including observability, incident response, quality practices, CI/CD, and team operating cadences.

Use data, metrics, and technical judgment to identify systemic issues, improve team effectiveness, and raise the bar on execution.

Who you are

You are a technically credible, hands-on leader who can move from strategy to architecture to day-to-day execution without losing the trust of the team.

You are collaborative and culture-driven, and you know how to energize a team while partnering effectively across functions.

You are resilient, calm under pressure, and comfortable making sound decisions in ambiguous or high-stakes situations.

You are an influential communicator who can translate technical priorities and tradeoffs into clear business impact for stakeholders.

Your skill-set

Must-haves:

6+ years of experience in software, platform, or cloud engineering, including direct responsibility for team leadership and delivery outcomes.

Strong hands-on experience building and operating distributed systems in AWS and/or GCP, with familiarity in Kubernetes, CI/CD, and cloud-native engineering practices.

Proven ability to lead engineers through execution, improve engineering processes, and deliver reliable systems in production.

Strong technical grounding in modern backend engineering, observability, and operational excellence.

Nice-to-haves:

Experience in fraud prevention, authentication, voice biometrics, trust and safety, or related security products.

Prior hands-on experience as a software, infrastructure, or platform engineer before moving into management.

Experience working in high-growth SaaS environments where speed, scale, and cross-functional execution all matter.
